Questions about crunching on ice.

  1. Here's the question, not sure what is happening with me lately, but I just can't get enough of ice, If I am not chewing ice, I am thinking about chewing it. love it, I do.

Now.......I recall hearing at one time in my life, that this behavior is directly related to a deficiency of something. Could just be one of those old wives tales. Anyone know, or even have a thought, idea

Not asking for a diagnosis, (well, unless it's a real fun one) just thoughts.

It used to be said that a woman who crunched ice or who absentmindedly picked the label off a beer bottle had a deficiency of... well, of a man in her bed.

Then someone pointed out that often it just means she's bored, and that men confuse the two. :chuckle

Now, there's a thought, but I couldn't do anything with the man in my bed, while I was crunching the ice. well, he'd have to be trained in the heimlich :chuckle <crunching as I type>

I read the article "pagophagia", saw the doc two weeks ago, exhausted, fatigue, burning tongue. We talked about anemia, levels were borderline.

Can you get a prescription for that yet?

Is that why the AMA and the nurse practitioners are battling over prescriptive authority?

the disorder is called pica and is not ltd. to eating dirt, and is indeed indicative of an iron deficiency. are you pregnant? many times this condition is correlated with that.

Chewing a lot of ice is hard on your teeth!

I used to chew ice all the time, until I cracked two teeth and had to get root canals and crowns. The destist told me that people chewing on ice keeps him in business!

My daughter loves to chew ice. I even bought her an ice pop maker that she fills with bottled water to make pops...
