    See the attached photo.
Attached is a picture of one of my best friends in the Army, Mike
McNaughton. We were privates together in 1990-1994. He stepped on a
landmine in Afghanistan Christmas 2002. President Bush came to visit
the wounded in the hospital. He told Mike that when he could run a
mile, that they would go on a run together. True to his word, he called
Mike every month or so to see how he was doing. Well, last week they
went on the run, 1 mile with the president. Not something you'll see in
the news, but seeing the president taking the time to say thank you to
the wounded and to give hope to one of my best friends was one of the
greatest/best things I have seen in my life. It almost sounds like a
corny email chain letter, but god bless him. Love,

Not a can of worms, I hope. I'm not a Bush supporter, but I can always appreciate gestures of kindness like this. I hope that the same sort of thing would be common to all of our presidents. It would be nice if there were fewer cans of worms, too, eh Becky?

    Thanks for sharing this. -Chris

I'm NOT a Bush supporter. I think he & his clan have made a disasterous mess of the war and international relations, and yes, all this also negatively impacts the economy and morale of US citizens. :angryfire

Let's leave this topic to another forum, why don't we? It's very divisive & makes my blood boil.

This is a great story. I am a Bush supporter too. I agree that the media does ignore all the positives. Thanks for sharing!

There are lots of things that can be said about Bush. Let's just say I'm NOT a supporter. :angryfire

So don't open the thread and read it if you are that affected by it!

Very nice story and call me skeptical, but is it true? I don't doubt that GWB does do nice things for people...most people do, but you can't always trust what you get in an email. Was this someone you know that sent it? (I'm just curious not questioning your honesty)

I don't agree with everything he does for sure, but I do think he has the best intentions. He does what he thinks is right.

Well it must feel good to have something nice to say about the president. Enjoy!

I don't know if this is the same guy, but I saw on one of the news channels, I think around Easter, Bush was out jogging with one of the soldiers home from the ME. They had his wife and daughter there and they interviewed them. Well, as much as you can interview a three or four year old anyway.

The gentleman's name was Mike McNaughton, and he lost most of his right leg when he stepped on landmine in Afghanistan. He jogged a mile with Bush with his 'running' prosthetic.
