Pregnant mother, 7-year-old son found dead
Ex-boyfriend charged with murder
DALLAS, Texas (CNN) -- The bodies of a pregnant woman and her 7-year-old son have been found near Denton, north of Dallas, a spokesman with the Denton County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
Lisa Underwood, 34, and her son, Jayden, were found in water, Fort Worth police said.
Underwood's blue Dodge Durango was found in a creek Monday in Denton, about 40 miles north of Dallas. It was not clear how close the bodies were to the vehicle.
Underwood and her son had been reported missing Saturday after she failed to appear at her baby shower.
Stephen Dale Barbee, 37, was charged with capital murder Tuesday, said Lt. Gene Jones, a Fort Worth police spokesman.
Barbee and Underwood, both of Fort Worth, were romantically involved at "one time," Jones said.
Barbee was arrested in Tyler around 3:15 a.m. (4:15 a.m. ET), a detention officer in Smith County said. Bond for Barbee was set at $2 million, he said.
Jones said the suspect was being transferred to a jail in Fort Worth.
Underwood, 34, was seven months' pregnant.
A search of Underwood's home Saturday evening found "a significant amount of blood," but no signs of forced entry, Jones said.
Police on Monday searched a house near Underwood's home in northern Fort Worth, he said.
An Amber Alert, issued by police over the weekend, was canceled Tuesday morning after Barbee's arrest, said a spokesman with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
CNN's Ed Lavandera and Tracy Sabo contributed to this report.
