Prayers needed

  1. Hello all. Well, It happened to me today. I got stuck with a dirty needle at work today. Happened after I gave Insulin to a Pt. Had to get my blood drawn, Pt got her blood drawn. 2 thing I have in my favor. One is the pt. tested neg. for HIV antibodies. The next thing in my favor is I have gotten the Hepatitis b vaccine about 18 months ago. The only worry is about Hep. C. So please keep me in your prayers if you would. I have 6 long months to sweat this out. Oh well, what are ya gonna do??? Love and peace to all, WW.

WW :: Tell us how it happened...that will help the rest of us a lot...to be on guard from repeating the same kind of incident.

You'll be okay, don' t worry about it too much.

Do they have safety insulin needles now? When I left those were the only ones with the attached needle and no safety set.

Certainly praying for a good outcome. It's scary to say the least.

The way I figure it, I must have withdrawn the needle too fast from the Pt's arm. To top it off, yesterday I had a brain fart and went home with the Narc keys!! God, I'm such an idiot....WW.

Sending you hugs and I know it will be fine, won't accept it any other way!!!! DH got stuck once by a lancet that some idiot had left in the machine for blood sugars. The scarey part was, we had 2 HIV positive residents that got daily blood sugars, so we really sweat it and he had to be tested for a year but God answers prayers, so just believe!!!! Super hugs, Duckie

The Power of prayer still has lots of docs stupified. " If any two of you shall agree on the earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my faather which is in heaven."

Touch your monitor and say a prayer.

Be strong always and cry when you can't do any better. Grandma

I've heard the smaller diameter needles are less likely to transfer?
Also, being a subq injection, maybe it is also less likely to happen. In any case, I will say an extra prayer for you tonight. I do think you'll be fine, but I know it will be a long 6 mos for you.

warrior woman, you have my prayers, support and deepest empathy. I had that happen to me when I was a fresh graduate and ad only started the HepB vax. Fortunate for me it was an elderly woman and she tested clean on every thing. But it's ironic how I was also giving insulin and got stuck as I withdrew the needle. Keep us posted girl!

Sorry for your stick WW. I will pray for you. NO idiot, just a human.

Needle sticks is a topic I could talk on way too long. I was scrubbed in, and got one from an active HIV pt. Changed my life. It happened 3 1/2 years ago. I am still testing neg. Yea!!!!!!

I'll keep it short. If you feel a prick, you got a stick. DENIAL BITES
Stop what you are doing and wash the area very well, then go to infection control... ER ect.

Just could not help but make a small sugestion for any future sticks for those out there.
