Please Read!!

  1. aimee and i have been a bit bombarded with complaints and concerns lately in regard to the appropriateness of recent threads.
while neither one of us want to dictate what is posted or discussed in this forum, we would like to urge you all to remember that this is a public forum and we would appreciate that everyone conduct themselves in a respectful manner.

disagreements happen and that is all part of the spirit of the board but when it becomes personal then please utilize the pm button.

we have a lot of members (old and new) who use this board and we would like to continue the tradition of friendly conversation.

    thanks for listening.

Hi Rusty and Aimee, thanks. Just for the record...When and how do you make the decision to delete a thread? I've always wanted to ask that. Oh shoot...That's adding to your 200 questions you gotta reply to before bedtime...huh? Sawry...hehehe

PS...Hoolahan...Not trying to be funny or mock...I'm just the one who's blowin' up the moderators PM's and inbox!

I could not have said it better then Hoolahan. Here is her post on the other forum:

    Quote:

The following is what everyone who registers has to abide by. It is also what the moderators try to weigh an objectionable post against, before deleting it.....
    --------------

Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. If you agree to the terms, please press the Agree button at the end of the page. Note: By pressing the button you declare that you are over the age of 13. If you are 13 or under, please use this registration form.

Although the administrators and moderators of allnurses.com Nursing Bulletin Board will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of allnurses.com Nursing Bulletin Board or Jelsoft Enterprises Limited (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message.

By clicking the Agree button, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws. Advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate on this BB.

The owners of allnurses.com Nursing Bulletin Board have the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.

Remember: This Bulletin Board is for Nursing Discussion only. If you post any form of advertising, your post will be deleted and your posting privileges will be removed.......
    --------------------------

Me again. Please try to remember that there are over 20,000 members on this BB. As a former Off Topic moderator, I can say it is IMPOSSIBLE to read every single post in that forum, sometimes 200 posts a day in that forum alone!! That is a FT job to read that, and being a moderator is a volunteer thing, no one has THAT much free time to donate! (Not complaining Bossman, just stating the facts.)

For that reason, moderators have to really rely on people reporting objectionable posts. Sometimes a questionable post is deleted and then put back after the moderators discuss it. We really do try to permit as much free speech as Brian's advertisers can tolerate, remember this is his business, and even if the agreement states the posts are not a reflection on allnurses, in a way they are if not moderated.

My personal feeling lately is... what a person posts is a reflection of their character. Sure we can be playful, we can be angry, etc... but eventually, and we can usually only get to "know" the person by what they post, we can form our own conclusions and decide if a particular person is someone we wish or do not wish to respond to. Some people consistly post supportively, some consistently post bluntly, it is sometimes just a lack of good communication skills. Eventually when a sour apple is discovered, people will stop biting.

All I can leave you with is this. If you are finding a particular person is getting on your nerves, and it happens, we are all only human, use the ignore button. If there is something you find objectionable, PLEASE use the report this post to a moderator link. It's in every single post. Do not assume moderators are reading every post on the BB at one time. Even though a post may not conflict with the posting agreement, if enough complaints are received, it may be deleted by a majority rule.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks Russ.
Earlier today I asked, "Is it a full moon or what?"
The personal attacks resemble a feeding frenzy.
If it isn't personal attacks, it's gutter themes.

There used to be some really fine nurses on this BB.
    They have moved on.

    Hopefully, things will right themselves.

Thanks for saying that Rusty. Seems like the whole board needs some Aspirin. Or just a really good deep cleansing breath in a tub full of bubbles.

    Oh well. ~ sigh ~

I do not know of anyone who has left the board. We all get busy and change our online time from time to time.

My priority, as well as to abide by the BB rules, is to remain positive, support one another, learn, and try to provide information to my colleagues here on the board.

I also come here to relax. This BB has provided a lot of personal and professional growth for myself; that is the atmosphere I hope to maintain with the help and guidance of Brian, the other Moderators, and the 20,000 and growing members of this site.

    In peace,

    B.
