You know, I just don't understand...

First of all, WHY DOES THIS THREAD NEED TO BE CLOSED?? It got heated for a second and now it has simmered down and there actually seems to be productive conversation going on..moving toward understanding and resolution.

Secondly, I'm sure I've offended at times, but don't actually recall being offended. "Irritated" perhaps, when my country is attacked, but offended...not. I will never understand those who wear their feelings so close to the surface, ESPECIALLY on the internet. Maybe I don't understand because I'm not one easily offended in every-day life, let alone on the net.

As much as I normally disagree with PRN, I admire her ability to take as much as she dishes out. I've NEVER seen anyone here "attacked" just for posting nice, pleasant words. When we are "attacked", it's usually because we have engaged ourselves into a controversial conversation.

It's words and emotions of people on a computer screen, for God's sake. What people here say will not effect your everyday life...unless YOU allow it. Enjoy the board, enjoy the company...don't look to be offended and you won't. If it begins to offend you and you wish not to be offended then move to another thread. If it bothers you, why continue to read and participate??

I agree with Heather's earlier post..can't remember the exact words, but basically...we all just need to grow up.

also, Renee' (semstr) and some other's can testify..just because two people disagree today and the conversation gets heated doesn't mean this is the end-all/be-all. Some of my closest friends here started out as some of the ugliest conversations. I love this board because difference of opinion makes you think and will, at times, change your opinion/attitude to the better. Some of us aren't easily persuaded to change our beliefs...for some of us, it takes an in-depth debate.

my dear cybernet friend and allnurses.com friend semstr......

    Renee,
    to say this much publicly.......

think things just got out of hand, probably more on the off topic threads, than the war/terrorism thread, even though there people forgot to speak in opinions without lashing out......and I am not saying this of you, Renee......

I do not feel that anyone here thinks that last year at this time was right in anyway..........and so tragic and so new to America....being hit on home ground.......

it is natural to fear and I do feel for you and yours........

this thread maybe has done its purpose in making people rethink what they say.........so easily.........

but just know all of us here do care and care deeply.........

    the rest smstr,
    micro saves for PM

    be well
and to steal a closing from Ted,
    love and peace all,
    micro

The request was for the Foreign Nurses thread to be closed because it was something old that had been resolved for Semstr long ago. Since you have posted on that thread I think you realize that now but I thought would clarify for the sake of others reading this thread.

Hi to you all and thanks to you all for the pm's and all the other kind and heartwarming words.
I never dreamed this would ever come up again, but as Tracy already stated too, it was ok in a way. As a lesson to see how people can grow together.

....... We have 2002 now, a year has gone by, a hard one and even harder ones are coming.
So let us, as healthkeepers, take care of ourselves and for the ones we respect and love.
    Do it! Renee
