Planned Parenthood Ad in 1964 in favor of contraception:
From the PP broshure:
Is it [birth control] an abortion?
"Definitely not. An abortion kills the life of a baby after it has begun. It is dangerous to your life and health. It may make you sterile so that when you want a child you cannot have it. Birth control merely postpones the beginning of life."

Interesting ad, Tim. Where did you find it? I wonder if Planned Parenthood wishes it could edit the statements it made 45 years ago.

Quote from SharonH, RN
I'm still wondering what your point is. Are you suggesting some sort of hypocrisy?
Back in the 60's, abortion was not safe and it was not legal. Women were dying because of back alley abortions and some of the ones who lived were left unable to have children. Why would Planned Parenthood promote it?
Their focus was on helping women to control their fertility. That focus has not changed.
The point was that planned parenthood ADMITTED that contraception not only prevented the creation of a life, but specifically, a BABY.
THEIR POINT was that birth control was a form of family planning that stopped pregnancy BEFORE a BABY was 'alive'. Not some "unviable tissue"; a BABY.
I can understand YOUR point as to why they would not promote abortion then. MY POINT is: How can they support it NOW, since it is, in their own words, "killing the life of a baby after it has begun."?
