Philadelphia - Terrell Owens

  1. The arbitrator agrees with the Eagles - TO is out. ESPN said he stands to lose up to $20 million in salary, bonuses, endorsements, etc.

Here we nurses (and students) are wiping butts and trying to make $50K and this guy can't keep his mouth shut long enough to earn millions? The man is an amazing talent. He just doesn't know when to shut up!!!! It's difficult to feel sorry for a guy like that.

Are there any Eagles fans here? What's the thought in Philadelphia?

I'm not from Philly, but I believe the Eagles (and the abitrator) made the right decision. I'm glad to see someone hold an overpaid athlete accountable for something. Maybe a few other loud-mouthed, ill-mannered louts will take notice and stick a sock in it. As long as the prevailing attitude is, "If you play well enough, you can get away with almost anything," we will continue to have the sports world produce crop after crop of bad boys.

Speaking as a Cheesehead, I've been spoiled by the likes of Brett Favre, who is a class act on and off the field. He has gone through the loss of his dad and brother-in-law, his wife's battle with breast cancer (in remission now), and the devastation of his hometown (many family members lost their homes to Katrina) in the space of about a year and a half. Not to mention that this season is the worst in years. Does he shoot his mouth off and make excuses? Does he attack his own team members? Does he prance around like the star of his own melodrama? He does not.

I have tremendous respect for the Eagles front office folks for sticking to their guns on the TO issue. What might make this get his attention is that he has to sit out the rest of the season. If it weren't for that, I'm sure some other team would snap him up in a heartbeat. Let's hope this benching puts some manners on him. I give it about a 10% chance.

we bleed eagles green in my household.

talk radio and tv consensus: he's outstayed his welcome when he threw punch at team members in the locker room last week.

Heard on KYW1060 radio, reason Eagles won was that they had previously sent 2 certified letters previously to TO warning him that behaviour not in line with team standards and he agreed to meet teams standards. Last weeks locker room antics was final nail to his Philly career.

DH feels he will only get string of one year contracts after this for much less that current contract.

As a longtime Cowboys fan, I used to despise anything Packers (remember the great games they used to have?)! But with time, one can't help but admire and respect Brett Favre. You are right, he is a class act.

Also as a Cowboys fan....those Philadelphia Eagles!!!!!! But, Donovan McNabb is another classy guy. Any fair-minded person must respect him and the organization for how they've handled this difficult situation.

I sure hope the Cowboys don't wind up with TO next year. Ugghhh!

gakkkk! i just realized that with the dismal season we've got going, our gm might be desperate enough to give to the once over. especially after owens compared mcnabb to favre. we did take on andre "bad moon" reisen a few years back. he helped us get to the superbowl but lasted only the one season.

naw. this is just too ugly to think about. i need some chocolate.
