I was on paxil for a few months... worked wonders during that ultra stressful time but I gained weight on it. But it's coming off now. Be very careful when she comes off of it ... I had some really freaky withdraw effects (even though I was tapered off of it) and some other people I know on it have complained of the exact same SE when coming off of the drug ... ie .. episodes of syncope, heart palpatations, numbness in extremities that lasted about one week.

Hope things start going better for her!!

Been on Paxil for 2 years. How is Paxil Cr? I bet you the buggers charge a lot for it. Anyone know when Paxil will be available in generic form?

My DH just started on Paxil CR about 3 months ago. I noticed a difference in him in about a week. The only bad side effect that he has had is yawing. He yawns all the time!

It is expensive.... about $76 for a month's supply and no generic that I know of.

She seems fine on it but is also gaining alot of weight. She is much better emotionally. Took about one month before we really saw a change.

When I started on 12.5 mg CR, my Dr. said it would take 5-7 weeks to start working. But I felt better in about a week. I'm now on 37.5 mg CR. I'm happier than I've ever been, and don't have so many anxious dreams. I've also really cut down on my OCD behaviors--checking the stove over and over to make sure it was off, stuff like that.

I haven't gained any weight (but I've never had a problem with weight), but I do have those "sexual side-effects" they mention on TV. I've been on it 4 months and hoping that will go away....SOON.

Sometimes you won't notice a change with an SSRI for 4-6 weeks, sometimes you'll see a change quickly.
