Outed Myself!!

  1. Grabbed your attention, didn't I? :chuckle
I did it!! Went to the community Poet's Corner this evening. There were about 75 people there from all walks of life. I was about the 4th person called up to the mike. I read "Journey's Prayer" and then "Restoration" (posted under the thread Poet's Corner). I felt slightly nervous, but not bad - I just felt confident, and you guys really helped me with that!! Great round of applause after I finished, it made me feel really good!

SOOOO much talent there! At one point there was a stripper that read 2 poems that made us VERY uncomfortable. She was just WAY too graphic than you would think for that crowd, but I have to admit she was good.

All in all, it was a WONDERFUL evening (no, I did not meet anybody) and I plan on going back next month.

Thanks, again, for your support!! :kiss

    Great News! :hatparty: :spin:

Words can hurt or words can heal. Poetry lines are still remembered from my child hood and when I found out finally pregnant would read to my growing fetus poetry book by Edgar Guest that my grandmom gave me. We moved onto Rhymes of Childhood when toddler. I would lie in the doorway (as lights out) and read from a book of poems each night after boys tucked in as a way to relax them before sleep. Oldest had a library card at age 4 so he could check out The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle for the 15th time. He hated to read books at age 12 but rediscoverd the joy now at age 16 1/2. Discovered Edgar Allen Poe in 10th grade English class. STILL asks me to read from book of Children's poems from time to time.

Maybe he'll read poems by Las Vegas RN to his children in the far future!
