Other Books for Danielle Steele reader????

  1. Hi all,

You have all given such good advice on so many topics....How about books?

I'm trying to find books for my mother in law. She loves Danielle Steele, and read lots of romance novels for awhile, but doesn't read much else. She has enjoyed some stories of personal triumph against adversity like "Not Without My Daughter"

Keep in mind this dear lady is in her late 80's, not into politics or anything too racy.

I'm at a loss of what to bring her.

It's a tricky situation. Books are such personal preferences. Definitely don't want to offend the mother in law! :wink2:

    Thanks for you thoughts!!

Could you get her a gift card at Borders or Barnes and Noble? That way she can choose any book she likes and you don't have to worry about offending her.

Nora Roberts is a good Romance author. I also like Laverle Spencer. Not usually anything in their books that are racier than anything by Danielle Steele.

I think she would like Maeve Binchy, easy reading, romantic settings, most of the time in Ireland.
    Take care, Renee

Agree with the above authors 100%.

Recommend too Jan Karon 's Mitford Series :
At Home in Mitford ; A Light in the Window ; These High, Green Hills; Out to Canaan

She writes about small town life that revolves around Father Tim, Episcopal priest and his neighbor Cynthia. You'll meet some other eccentric, interesting, and lovable characters in Mitford. She based the series on a town in the North Carolina mountains where she once lived. Light reading that draws you in so you'll want to read all the books!
