OT: I need some FAST fat loss advice! Please!!

  1. Okay okay!!! I have been there and done all that! I have been SUCH a good eater and regular exerciser for YEARS!! I am 35 and was actually down to my goal weight last fall of 107 pounds!!!! I was running/stepping and lifting weights and eating GOOD! BUT THEN, I returned to finish my bacherlor's degree and started ALSO working 12 hour night shift!!! It has killed me!!! I have gained over 30 pounds since October and cannot fit into any of my summer clothes. I am SO majorly depressed you have no idea. I felt so great last fall I felt gorgeous and that I could take on the world. I don't even want to leave the house now. I am still working nights and feel like complete "crap"!

I have a huge party and a class reunion on the 4th of July to attend. I want to look good for ME of course, and need to get back to my healthy weight and activity level that I was at and was doing so very very good!!

I need help though with some sort of BOOST! I need something, ANYTHING, that I can do between now and July 3rd to be the MOST effective in losing visible weight!!! I know that it is a lifelong committment and a need to change my lifestyle , and I plan on continuing that....but I really need something that has worked for anyone in a pinch! Something that I can see and feel FAST, and I promise to continue with healthy habits.

I would give anything to go back in time and NOT mess up what I had going last fall but of course, that will never happen. I was actually at my thinnest last fall and I let it all fly right out the window!!! UGH!! It's disgusting to be me right now!!!

    HELP!!!!!

    (please)

Reading what the folks in the Adkins thread say, that seems to be a quick way to loose weight.

107 lbs.??? What are you 4 feet tall. LOL

Good luck. Don't base your self-esteem on looks and forgive yourself for gaining weight.

Try a vegetarian diet. I have a hard time keeping weight on. How tall are you?

For snacks eat things that contain fiber like apples and drink water. The water makes the fiber expand, thus making you feel full. Drink a full glass of water before each meal. Eat to make hunger subside NOT to get full! Drastic results call for drastic measures- Stop eating meat! It can be done. My cousin and I stopped eating it for Lent and she lost 7lbs. in 2 weeks. Keep in mind, exercise is a must!
    Good Luck

I know ppl who have had success with the Adkins diet and exercise. Be careful not to lose too fast.

Definately drink a lot of water as ursula10 mentioned. Healthy snacks.

I've lost 10 pounds during the 14 day induction period of the Atkins diet. It works well and fast . .just drink lots of water.

In answer to the above question about my height: I am 5'2" only.
Is the weight loss from Atkins during that first 2 weeks noticeable at all, I need visible results within 3-4 weeks!! I'm not asking for much, huh?

If you are going to eat meat try chicken and turkey breast. Maybe eat a small amount every few hours so that you don't get hungry (and cheat). Drink lots of h2o and excersize so that you break a sweat before you have breakfast.

In April, my mom decided to do the Atkins diet, and I decided to do it also, mostly for moral support for her. She lost 23 # in 3 weeks. And it shows! She looks great, and it IS visible weight. Very visible. But you HAVE to stick to the induction.....NO CARBS. Only meat and veggies, and, as stated above, drink lots of H2O!! GOOD LUCK!

Hubby tried the Atkins diet...worked for him. He also made up his mind that he was going to exercise...he runs at least 4 days per week. He also cut down on his beer!!

I still have some weight to lose since I gained it after my back operation. However, I tried 3 times Atkins and although I lost some initial weight, I could never finish the induction part, so I would end up getting off of it. There are many other diets you can go onto that does not restrict you like Atkins, and I just do not like meat that much. At some point during induction, I have to quit because you can only eat 20gm of carbohydrates a day, which means that besides eggs and cheese, that is a lot of meat and that really freaks me out to know that I have to keep eating protein that comes from those sweet cows, chicken, etc. etc - you know, anything with a face? No, believe it or not, I normally am not a real vegetarian but on this diet it seems that eating all the protein really gets me thinking, ya know? I can eat fish and shrimp but can only eat so much of this too. At first, Atkins seems to be a good idea when you are desperate to try anything, but after a while as you go about real life and eat with your friends and famiy, have parties, you get where you really notice just how limiting this diet is, how costly it is to stay on only high protein items, and the fact the body just craves to have some bread and other tasty carbs and not be restricted like this forever.

So, I am just sticking with low diet and am trying the exercise video tapes called, The Firm which I have noticed that many people have had remarkable results with over time. It took some time to put tbhe weight on and I guess it is logical will take some time to get it off. Beside that, I use the non-impact Glider machine and exercise using the Crossbow weight machine. At some point, the rest of my weight will fall off, and at least I will be left eating in moderation the foods that I have always loved...
