Call your doctor and at least get some muscle relaxers, stay away from flexiril, it's too sedating, gets some skelaxin and a medrol dose pack....your friendly ED nurse, Wendy

Do you do the panic exercises for lower back pain?

lie on your stomach and push up with your arms, leaving your waist on the mat. This should, hopefully, center the pain and perhaps relieve enough pressure to be some help. After you've done it a few times, you should be able to prop on your elbows, and after you've been practicing for a while, you'll be able to have you arms fully extended.

When standing up, you can put your hands on a counter or on a window sill and bend your body into the same kind of form that you have on the mat (only standing up).

    Best luck!!!!

    Love

Sorry to hear about your back, Brenda. Back pain is one of the most frustrating pains to have, isn't it? My husband takes Skelaxin and it doesn't make him sleepy at all. One of the exercises he does for his back is to lay on the bed or floor (whatever is the most comfortable) and draw your knees up to your chest. Then move your knees left and then right so you are gently moving your knees in a back and forth movement. Hold your bent legs to the left for a count of 10, then to the right for a count of ten...Hope you find something makes you feel better soon... :kiss

HEY!! I have an idea Brenda,

First, use the rice sock like I told you earlier today. (while I was in school........naughty me) Put the rice sock on where it hurts for a while so your muscles are kind of loosened up a little, then have hubby give you a gentle back rub.....then put the sock on again...

I bet that would feel good.................I wanna back rub now..

OK............. I am totally worse now.........hubby just had to carry me downstairs so I could sit at desk and study.........It's really really bad...... I can't straighten out!

Kristi I have the rice sock on Now as I type... thank you so much for the great idea!

I j took 25mg of Vioxx about an hour ago, no relief...... b/c the Dr. never got me the muscle relaxers....

I need to pull an all nighter studying ......so I think I am going to take another 25 mg .

I Just need to get through tonight and tomorrow........AP lab and lecture and that darn muscle pratical!

    Thank you all who responded!

Is there a walk in clinic closeby? I use those every once in awhile when My kids are sick and can't be seen by the family doc until the next day. I went once for my back and got what I needed....no appt necessary. Check the yellow pages.... explain your situation and maybe you'll get some fast results.

Everyone should be so lucky as to work in the ED, if my doc isn't on call I call one of the docs I work with and have whatever it is that I need for me or my family
