Once in a while, it pays to check your pockets.

  1. I have only been in school for two weeks, but my bag was a mess, so I decided to clean it out. While I was fishing in my planner getting rid of old receipts, etc. I found $10. Now, you might think $10...big deal, but $10 here is a fortune at this point!

I remember when I was waitressing, I would leave tips in jacket pockets, everywhere in my purse, in my car, etc. It was always a great day when I found some "lost" tips that I didn't know I had!

I know what you mean, last year the first really cold day I got my coat out and put my hands in my pocket and found a 20 dollar bill. It was great timing because had bought 2 new tires for my car the week before and blew the budget and I was able to put gas in the car and not have to worry about the last two days of my school week and gas Whew what a relief.....Found money is great!!!!!!!!!!1

And then there are the little surprises you don't want...like when I check Trey's pockets and find God knows what in them! LOL!

Yeh... dh's pockets always leave me a nice laundry tip !

And other not so nice things like golf tees, and the *&#$@*&#^ paper towel or wadded up tissue that falls apart in the wash and gets all over the rest of the clothes with the lint and fuzzies !!!

I tell Bry if he doesn't clean out his pockets, it will get washed. So he does it pretty faithfully, though he has lost a couple receipts he needed! LOL! The kids won't do their own, but he's old enough to clean out his own nasty pockets! LOL!

after a few bouts of 'but I needed that grocery store coupon receipt; what if the grapes are bad?' I decided to 'delegate' the chore of laundry to him. He did, after all, do his own laundry when we met. I told him that school, work, clinicals and housekeeping were just too much for me to do.

That system has stuck, and even though I'm more than a year out of school, I'm not in any hurry to make any changes :chuckle

yeah- I found a gold bracelet in one of my scrub tunic pockets when doing laundry- the clasp must of come loose and it slipped in. I thought I had lost it.

If you've got kids- always check their pockets....my son had a ball point pen in one of his shirts, I neglected to check, and it ruined the entire white load. As if laundry isn't bad enough as it is. Gum, play-doh & chapstick don't launder well either.

I have found gross things too.......old used tissues in winter coats..ugh
Once I found a $20 in a coat pocket and was happy that I didn't have to go to the bank before renting a movie.

Yep. I ruined a load of clothes once by not checking to find a ballpoint pen. Totally hacked me off! I can't afford new CLOTHES for goodness sake! Ack!

Most recently, my daughter left a packet of those mints...the ones that are liquid encapsulated in a meltaway ball(?) I forget what they're called. Anyway, I pulled out the clothes, out fell the empty packet, which had been full.

Ahh...but the clothes were minty fresh smelling! LOL!

I remember when my son was little, he just loved to collect rocks. Some of them were actually pebbles. Believe me, it is not good for your washing machine when those they fell into the little holes in the agitator~!

oooh, glad you mentioned that. Piper loves rocks. Guess I'd better start checking HER pockets now, too! LOL!

Yep, best to check! All the big ones will do is bang around in the dryer and drive you crazy, but those tiny ones are troublemakers (the pebbles, not the kiddos!)
