OMG! I am so scared and worried . . . I fear the worst.

  1. OMG! OMG! OMG!

My parents went on a trip, and PROMISED me they would call me as soon as they got to Reno, Nevada. They should have called me around 5:00 that night! The phones were on the hook, I have a second line for the internet, so there is no reason they couldnt reach me, and when my mom says shes gonna call . . . she's gonna call. It is now 5:00 tonight and I still have not heard from them! I am worried sick. And I just have that gut feeling that they were in a fatal car crash. I had a dream about a car crash last night, exept I was the one killed in it in the dream. I am very afraid. If anyone has heard anything about an accident around Reno please let me know asap!

Oh God! I hope they are not dead! I just have a really bad feeling about this! I'm going to be an orphan . . . I just know it!

First...calm down. the hotel where they were to stay if you haven't already.
Third...if it makes you feel better, call the Nevada State Police.
How long has it been since you heard from them?
No news is usually good news.....I assume they carry ID. So someone should have called if something happened.

Do you have your parent's car license? You could call the Nev. and Calif highway patrol and inquire. I am assuming that they carry some id and who to call in case of an emergency?? I will hope and pray that they are fine. Perhaps they are winning in the casinos and have not taken the time to call??? Do you know where they were planning to stay? You could call and ask if they arrived. I am so sorry, wish there was more I could do to help. ((((((futureRN_Mandi)))))))

Mandi, maybe it's as simple as a flat tire.
Or maybe they stopped for dinner somewhere.
Road trips rarely run precisely on time. An extra potty break at a nice rest stop can delay someone. Nevada? Maybe they stopped to indulge in some one-arm bandits and lost track of time. Take some deep breaths, and don't worry about only a couple hours late. In the meantime, while you're waiting to hear from them, find something to take your mind off your worry, and be good to yourself. Order a pizza or take a bubble bath, watch a movie. Take care, I'm sure everything will turn out fine.

Oh, no! I thought you meant 5:00 today, not yesterday! I'd be worried sick, too. Definitely time to call the Nevada Highway Patrol! Please let us know when you hear something. My prayers are with you, Mandi!

Is there anyone else they may have told where they may be staying? Your grandparents, siblings, their co-workers, or friends?
When are they expected back? I'm sure they are safe, but I would probably contact the Highway Patrol as Youda suggested if you can't find out anything from anyone else. Please let us know when you find out everything is okay! My prayers are with you.

Mandi - something to remember here before you panic - this always helped me with my sons - Your parents ID would show them at your address, right? The car is registered to your current address, right? So if anything had happened to them, you WOULD have been notified at that address! Chances are, they changed some plans, got involved in something and just don't think in terms of needing to "check - in". If you need more reassurance, though, call the Nevada State Police and ask about any accidents, though I currently live about 2 hrs. from Reno and listen to Reno stations and haven't heard anything that made the news.
