'''old Ladies And Their Dogs'''

  1. I was visiting a friend of mine and she was talking about her grandkids.
She mentioned one ten year old grandson whose parents are divorced. He spends 5 days a week at day care while his mom works. During school , he is there after school.

I asked my friend, "why don't you go up and get him one day a week and take him to the park, movie, mall, beach, swimming pool, etc.?" "To relieve THE BOREDOM of ten hours a day in day care....50 hours a week.......and, also, to spend some meaningful time with him......."
    she replied,

"Oh, he's allright there. If I brought him over here, I'd have to watch him. Sometimes when he's here, he looks at EVERY ONE of my what-nots (junk on the shelves), and sometimes he tries to pet my dog." (pekinese)

"She (doggie) doesn't like to be petted or to have kids
    around the house."

A few months earlier, This same lady told me that she'd been out walking at the local school track, and had been walking regularly with a guy she was getting interested in, and hoping he would reciprocate the interest. Well,................

Obviously the guy zeroed in on the doggie issue....'cause she told me ......."Do you know what Al said to me ? ?
    He said,
there ain't nuthin worse than an old lady and her dog."

    - - - ---- - --- -- - - - -

I remember when this same ladys' husband (before he died),
used to say, "she cares MORE about that dog than she
    cares about me."

I always laughed,,,, I assumed he was joking.
    He wasn't . It's was true.

Any of you know old ladies like this??
    Any of you like this?

Hahahaha, I think I am turning into one of them, LOL. I love my kids and husband but come on, they just aren't cute and furry.

My parents like their pets but they still have time for 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. They also have hobbies and are involved in many activities.

I do feel bad for the boy who has to spend so much time at the Day care during the summer. Some one please go get him and take him to a pool, zoo, ball game or just to get an ice cream cone for an afternoon.

That was my Aunt Joan before she passed away. Five dogs, four cats (or was it vice versa?) At any rate, she was an animal person - you know - let them eat off her fork and everything (always gives me the icks!) Sadly she passed of leukemia. I wouldn't have been surprised if it was feline leukemia (I'm really not being horrid - she joked about that herself .)

My ex boss..she would bend over backward for her pomeranian (she even went so far as to have her hair styled like the back of his butt, not sure if it was like that on purpose or not). She took him to the vet if he so much as sneezed. (but I was "disrespectful" because I did not help the company move to a new office because I had pneumonia, and I called ot too) Bought him all sorts of expensive crap, made sure he alwys had a baby sitter, gave him bottled water and stuffed toys (which he humped at the office, ick). She doesnt have any kids. Only that dog. shes not even that old, just premature weirdness I guess.

I finally put up pictures of my kids where I work. One of them was giving me a hard time, he was helping take some things into the office, and I only had pictures of my golden retriever in my cubicle. I am not old, but sometime I do like my dogs better than my family.

Mkue, I agree with your view. Poor kid, 10 years old and stuck in a day care all day. And what is grandma doing?
Grandma who is a very healthy 60 year old and lives 10 minutes away ...

Grandma is holding and petting and kissing and stroking and cuddling her doggie all day !
Doggie goes for a walk at 9 a.m. and again at 4 p.m., and has special snacks thru out the day. Granny holds the doggie on her lap while sitting in her easy chair...several hours/day. Kisses and caresses for doggie....
zero for grandson. Zero for the other 5 grandkids.

Doggie gets nails filed twice weekly, bath twice weekly-with blow dry, and lots of daily brushing, hair "trims", .......
    you get the picture...

If granny goes out to eat with family; wants to hurry home ' "cause doggie will be mad I've left her alone so long."
Also, takes home a "treat" for doggie. Granny has difficulty focusing on a meaningful conversation with family members at the table, she's deep in thought over what she will take home for her precious and beloved doggie.

I guess you all have heard jokes people make sometimes along the lines of: ""When I die, I want to be reincarnated as _________' s dog." LOL

I used to think people were just joking when they said things like that, ......but, now, I see that there are strong elements of truth in what they are saying.

For me, it is simply mind-boggling that there are people whose dogs receive more affection , soothing words, caressing, than the humans sharing their homes and lives.

Really weird. I just don't understand these grandma's.

Another human observation that I will be forever curious about.

    Oh my.....too funny!!!!

I have an Aunt that is like that. I think it was because she could not have kids that she turned her Chiuauha(sp) in to a spoiled brat.

It was so bad that you could not get near her when it was on her lap...not even my Uncle (God rest his soul). And the new one she has is just as bad now......UGH!!:roll

That is so sad. I can understand it more in LOL/LOM who don't have any other PEOPLE in their lives.
I love my dogs well enough...10 years ago they started out as the kids dogs and are now pretty much my husband's, I still take care of them and love on them and take them places to play but doubt they will be replaced when they pass away (husband plans on a 13" Beagle).

The older I get I find I am more of the crazy cat lady type. But they will be serving blender drinks in Hades before my pets wants/needs/preferences will take precedence over my Grandchild(ren). I will be pizzed if any of them get sent to daycare when I am available to have them instead.
