OK I surrender

  1. How do you make your animated avatars animate?

I saw Jnette's candle on the site I got this snowman. Her candle glows. My snowman is just sitting there.

    Help!

Don't ask me . . . . . . Siri sent me Spiderman and I have no idea how to make your snowman move.

And I think jnette is lounging on her couch drinking coffee so she's no help at the moment.

I'll keep checking here though -

aha ! I think I see the problem.

Did you save it to paintshop first, or resize it there? If you put in in paintshop it will not save the animation part..or if you save it to a file in your pc from paintshop IF it IS still animated, you MUST save it in a gif file format.

If you want to resize a gif animation, you can resize here http://www.gifworks.com/image_editor.html and it will keep the animation even if you resize. Once you make your changes there, you can save to a file on your pc and use it then.

Ummmm. Ok. No I didn't use paintshop. I used pix resizer. I'll try to work out your way though if I can figure out what you just said.

    I did mention I am tech-inept, didn't I?

When I right click it and save it to my machine from here on the forum - its a jpg but on the site you got it from its a gif. It has to be a gif to be animated. Somewhere in the process it got converted.

There ya go ! I resized it at gifworks.com for you !

Kat.. you can now rightclick on mine above and either save it to your pc or take it to photobucket and upload it there and use it that way.

You should be able to just save it to your pc in a file there (make sure it's gif) and then upload it as your avi. Try again.

YAY. Thanks so much. I got as far as getting it to gifworks, but I was stumbling around trying to resize it.

At least now I think I've got the idea.

    Thanks again.

OK.. anytime you need to resize a gif image (animation) use gifwork. com and follow the easy instructions there. This gifwork site is specifically for resizing animated gifs. You can't resize gifs in regular resizing places.

Hope that helps ! In gifworks, go to the left top of the page where it says "file".. click on that, then click on "file open"... you'll see two places you can upload.. one directly from a place in your pc (my pictures, etc.) or you can use the lower left box to upload the URL (http://) which is what I used from the properties of your pic from the site where you got it.

After you do that, click fetch image. It will upload your piccy. Then click "edit". Choose resize. A new box will open and you put in your new size (100X100) or whatever as long as it's 100 or less on both sides. Make sure the keep constraints box is checked and it will do the rest. Then click OK in that little box up there.

Your new, resized ANIMATED gif will appear. Right click on it and save to your pc now in "my pictures" or wherever, and now you can do the avi thing as usual. Voila !
