Find a Physical Therapist the is trained in "Crainio-Sacreal Massage" It is a very specialized form of massage associated to re-aligning the body through gentle stretching. First check with you are hospital(s) and than check with your area Physical Therapy Association. By using a physical therapist it should also be covered by your Medical Insurance (with a doctors Rx).

    Hope you feel better

I put my back out in January of 1996. Was prescribed Flexeril and Vicodin and was basically unconscious for 36 hours! My mother had to wake me up to eat, that is how drugged I was. I was also on strict bedrest for a week! It sucked cause I missed a full week of clinicals and this was at the beginning of the semester!

    Hope you feel better soon!

    Thanks Kelly and Deb,

My Doc put me on Flexaril and Vicodin and yes I was in a coma for a few days. I also got my period which I haven't seen in a few months...Probably why my back went out. I used to get bachaches just prior to, but forgot about them since I'm premenopausal and don't see the period much anymore, every two to three months apart which is ok by me. Thanks for the advice though, much appreciated.

NO SEX..the best cure for an aching back

okay, now what were those drugs ya'll suggested??

had a friend years ago, an older lady (I was early 20, her early 40's---doesn't seem so "older" anymore), anyhow..she was in the hospital for some type back surgery. She was always a sex maniac. She had this younger boyfriend. Yep, in the bathroom at the hospital..48 hours post-op from back surgery. I'm sorry, it's good..but..but..but.. what were the name of those drugs again??
    lol

Sure did . . . bending over to tie my shoes. Pathetic, huh?!? Probably has something to do with my "love handles" on my gut. . . . and the fact that I do a lot of lifting at work (of course!!)

No sex for me during this time . . . ouch!!!!

Cure for me was lots of Ibuprofin, bed rest, long hot showers and a heating pad.

Now I sit down on a chair to tie my shoes . . . and I raise the hospital bed up to lift people using good body mechanics and, of course, help from another nurse.
