Nurses Who Love Guns?

  1. Couldn't find the exact spot for this one as there isn't an off topic section (or did I miss it), but any nurses who love guns here?

I love hunting and shooting! I only have a couple guns, a 12 gauge and a 22 mag, but I shoot as much as I can.

    Anyone else?

What has this got to do with nursing? Another feeble attempt on your part to act the provocateur.

Do you realize that nurses are attacked more than any other profession in the USA?
Violence Against Nurses: Why Has Nursing Become So Much More Dangerous? - The Atlantic

That includes being shot. All hospital employees fear this. One of the surgeons at Johns Hopkins was shot point blank in the stomach in the hospital and almost died. There is more than one active shooter situation per month in hospitals here.
Hospital-Based Active Shooter Incidents | Firearms | JAMA | The JAMA Network

Gun violence is also a public health issue. Over 500 people have been shot in Chicago year to date. About 1 person per day is shot in Baltimore.

The appropriate place for this type of discussion is on a gun or hunting forum, not here. I write this as a law-abiding gun owner.

I didn't realize I was a provocateur. I share my opinions, some like them, some don't.

This post came about after a discussion here, that's all.

I'm confused about your post though... if nurses are attacked the most, wouldn't this be a good thread for discussion!?! It simply means more nurses should be law abiding gun owners.

Also, usually people on forums try and find others with similar interests, that's all I was doing.

Nurses who love guns? Seems a very small population that you're searching for. I doubt that you'll find an audience here.

The nurse who founded Allnurses shot his family and himself. No I do not like guns. You are a provocateur. I will suggest administrators move this post to the break room under politics.

Give me a break. Go read my last thread... I'm very polite and stick to the argument. However, my character has been attacked, I've been judged, and shown a high level of intolerance. Just because my views are different doesn't make me a provocateur.

I'd encourage you to report the post if you feel that way.

I actually did look on the forum for an off topic section. One of my political posts ended up there but I couldn't find it. Thanks for sharing the link.

I'm not offended, but this is a goofy "nursing" topic.

That's okay, I was just looking for people of similar interest is all.

Are you now suggesting nurses carry guns to work? This is absolutely illegal. What is wrong with you?

I don't "love" guns, but i enjoy shooting mine. I would really like to do more sporting clays, skeet, trap etc. Ammo is expensive though, so I have switched over to target archery the last year.

lol no, I said law abiding... with a ccw though, couldn't you carry to and from work?

Here is an interesting take on the subject from another thread, where they're admitting to carrying at work, or did I get that wrong?:

I have my CC permit. I keep Bessie in the car. She goes to work with me (at a clinic) and has been known to make an appearance when there's a threat against myself, my staff, or others, during which time she sat on my desk, out of range of patients. The rest of the time she stays in the car.
My boss is fully on board and supportive. When you do pain management, you can't be too careful.
ETA: I always carried Bessie, in the car, even when I worked hospital. Management knew, and no one ever said boo about it.
Either way, I'd never encourage anyone to do anything illegal. Nice try at trolling though.
