Now why can i have this kind of odds to win the lottery?

  1. Went out on first date last night. Seemed to be a nice guy when i talked to him on the phone and turned out he was.

So we met at a coffee shop in town (a nice safe neutral area) and hit it off. No ackward moments of silence and talked for a good 2 hours before we headed out to a local Italian/Greek café where we got somethin to snack on. Wound up drinking 2 pitchers of beer (we weren't carded), and since the place was getting ready to close, we headed up the street and went into a local bar for a couple of Jello shots. Still having a great time.

Well we got carded at this place at the door and we both handed over our IDs, and then we get recarded at the bar (standard practice for this place). I offered to pay for half again, which my date said no, so the bartender takes his ID and writes the last name off of his ID.

Which was also the same as my last name. Spelled the same and everything. :stone

Now granted i have a somewhat common last name, but i didn't think it was THAT common!!

So i showed him my ID and yes we both laughed a good one over that, then tried to see if we had any family in common. Which so far we don't, and i don't know of any family of mine in VA, but yes i am putting a call into my geneology-obessed uncle to see what he knows.

Can't believe this. I should have went out and got a Powerball ticket.

Heck maybe that's why we got along so well lol.

Still though, anyone know any couple that wasn't related, but had the same last name anyway?

It's just such an odd stuation, hard to desdribe lol.

Although we've been laughing over it ever since, calling each other "cuz", "bro", and "sissy".

Of course Tim and Ellen divorced after 16 or so years of marriage and two kids.

So, having the same last name is NOT a good luck charm. :chuckle

You guys drank TWO pitchers of beer AND jello shots? Whew . . . I'd be a goner long before that.

Glad you had a good time.

ok... now this is a true story...

Carol Hart is a marathon runner, as well as a Faboo nurse... she met a Tommy Hart (unrelated) and trained with him for running.
They got married a bit later, and are still going strong... I think its getting close to, if not over 5 years already... They're both awesome people!

Tell me they both didn't end up in cardiology:spin:

As long as they don't call their kids "atrial fibrillation" and "Veetach" it ain't too bad:chuckle

on a related side note... there is a grafiti artist in my area with the tag... (I swear its true) 'vaganal'.
Now, thats a name he chose himself... I doubt he'll run into anyone with a similar name.

I have a cousin who has been "dating" her guy for about as long as I've been alive. I never knew they were not married until like 2 years ago, (and I'm 23). They both have the last name Hill, and they are "married" when it's convenient...it's funny because neither one of them are pressed to get married. I guess they figure that they are 'too old' for that and they have the same last name anyway. :chuckle

    Yes, a son and daughter.

Smith is such a common last name. Makes you wonder about ancestry though.
