When I was working on the Navajo Reservation vanilla extracts and such things as hair spray had to be purchased at a special counter. Sad but true.

I tried drinking it once when I was a kid (like 6 or 7), but only because I used to LOVE to get my mom's vanilla extracts out and smell them. I'd line up all the different flavors on the kitchen table and smell them over and over. I took one sip of vanilla and thought it was disgusting.

These poor kids nowadays. Why don't they just find someone over 21 to buy them beer like we did??? hahahaha

    No but really, that's sad.

LMAO! Oh my... this brings back memories! You know I used to get this pain on the right side of my chest, around where I now know my liver to be, way back in high school when I had all that big hair. Darn thing was palpable (according to the doc).

Turns out that big hair spray cloud I stood in every morning was not good..... :chuckle

You got that right Mel D. A small amt of vanilla mixed in a large batch of toll house cookies is delicious. A tablespoon of straight vanilla extract is horrible. I don't know how even the biggest drunk can choak it down. I love Almond extract also, love the cherry smell. Can take that straight either.

reminds me of a funny thing i did back in JR Hi....l was in 8th grade, grew up un a conservative , dry home...and honestly never really had a urge to drink alcohol.....l walked home every day with a kid, he was a yr younger than me...don't know what came over me but l told him one day, "Tomorrow l am going to bring some rum to school for the walk home."....guess l didn't want to be thought the "square" that l was....so l go to grocery, buy rum flavoring...put it in grape koolaid and took it it to school...there probably wasn't a tsp in the whole 32 oz.....but my buddy Ralph was staggering home...l know he was faking cause l drank as much as he did and didn't even get a buzz.....never did that again, but he would beg me constantly to bring some more rum to school....l think l was afraid l would get caught and not be able to proove it wasn't ''real''............LR

LMAO Leah! I have this younger cousin. She's 10 years younder than me. One year, on New Year's, I was babysitting her. She must have been 6 or 7, as I was about 16 or 17. I was driving, and I had taken her to the grocery store to pick up some things, and I got one of those bottles of grape juice that look like they're in a wine bottle. I let her think she was drinking real wine!

It was so cute to watch her pretend to be drunk! :chuckle

Nasteee! Drinking straight vanilla? I guess it's better than straight Vodka
