Cannot stand Gretchen Wilson. To the point that as soon as i heard that song start playing at the bar last night for the 3rd time, i headed out the door. It drives me THAT batty. The fact that it's played to death on the radio stations doesn't help.

I've found that most people either LOVE it or they HATE it...not much in between..lol I like it in a mocking acting kinda silly way.......although I don't listen to country a whole lot..I do some..so maybe I don't hear it enough to drive me loony yet..:chuckle

I spent many nights in a band at a country bar in the 1970s. We had a running joke that when a regular went to the bathroomto "Get rid of the beer" we played "On the road again"

We did old stuff like "Back in the Saddle" and "Peach Pickin' Time in Georgia" My favorite? "Oklahoma Hills"

edited to add anything by Meryl Haggard. We had looooooong sing alongs near closing with "Okie from Muskogee"

Favorite country singers are Patsy Cline, REBA, and DOLLY!

I don't listen to country music anymore, but I grew up on it, and I listened to it most of my life. so I don't know most of the new artists. I did like a lot of the older songs because they told stories. Like "The Coat of Many Colors" written and sung by Dolly Parton, "Coal Miners Daughter" written and sung by Loretta Lynn, The Master's Bouquet by Kitty Wells, One Day At A Time also by Kitty Wells. I also liked Jambalaya, Kalijah, The Wreck of the Old 97, That was good country music. I didn't like songs that were about crying in my beer over you, and stuff like that. That's a defeatist attitude. I mostly listen to Christian music now.

My former sis-in-law's husband played in a country band in the 80's. "Older Women Make Beautiful Lovers" was sung to me when I turned 24 . . sigh.

Cotton-eyed Joe . . .Devil Went Down To Georgia . . . . Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jooooleeeene. :chuckle

My daughter HATES "Redneck Woman" . . . I kinda like it and I probably am one to some extent but would NEVER keep my Christmas lights up all year long.
