Noni Juice

  1. Has there ever been a thread about Noni juice on the boards? I started taking just an ounce a day about a week ago. If I sound like I am falling for the old snake oil thing you gota point. It is just that people who go through a period of poor health become desperate when the usual things don't work. It might be the placebo effect but after a week I swear I am having less problems with hypoglycemia. I have that condition that has a million names, you know the one that people who are disposed to type II diabetes but have not as yet come down with it have. Even if it is the placebo effect it is worth it to swallow the bitter stuff just to fool myself into think I am perking up. If you are familiar with Noni juice tell me what you know, positive and negative comments are welcome.

Thanks Sunnygirl, I was just about to type in a google search for Noni and you popped up with the link. The literature I just read says that it was shown to have sedative effect in animals. I could swear that for 4 to 6 hours after Noni I feel the way I do after taking one aspirin. You know, decrease in aches and pains but not sleepy or anything. Lord knows i need help with my immune system. I need a immune system that stops attacking me and starts going after the things it is supposed to take care of like colds and bacterial infections.

I have a story about Noni juice that I'll share with you.
My husband was in an accident about 12 years ago that left him without 60% usage of the right side of his body. He walked with a cane, and at times when his back would go completely out, he would be totally bedridden for weeks at a time.
A family friend introduced us to Noni Juice and Dennis started taking it a bit at a time. He began to feel better, so he thought, "Well, since I feel better with it, I may as well continue to take it."
To let you all know, my husband is now walking without pain, without a cane, and his back hasn't went out on him for over 3 years.
So yes....this is one family that believes in Noni Juice and lots of prayer to go along with it!

It seems to me from my personal experience that it has mild anti-inflamation properties. Possibly the longer you use it the more it works. If you think it is crazy remember ASA comes from the bark of trees. Thousand of years before white people came here native American healers had people chewing on the bark of trees for all sorts of inflamation. So it stands to reason that a berry which was used for a long time for inflamation by island healers should be taken seriously.

My mother swears the stuff makes her arthritic knees feel better and that she sees better when she takes it on a regular basis. Tart cherry juice is documented to have anti-inflammatory properties. Perhaps there is something to noni as well.

I know I'm bringing up a very old thread here, but I just started taking this stuff a couple of weeks ago and I am loving it! It tastes horrible, but I have increased energy, sleep better (had been having some night shift insomnia) and am much less grouchy. Anybody else taking this?

I wondered about this stuff. I hope this thread does get some more comments.

I don't mind a placebo effect (if that's all it is). If my body thinks it works, then that's good enough for my mind.

I have some friends in Atlanta that own a store that has this - have never tasted it though. What's it taste like?

I've never tasted wine, but this seems like it's pretty close. The kind I bought has grape and blueberry juice in it. It has a fairly tart taste IMO, and the reviews I've seen say that the kind I buy is the best tasting, but the most expensive. According to the company that makes it, it's the most pure. I don't know about all of that stuff, and it may totally be a placebo effect, but a close friend of mine is now having complete relief from some pretty painful arthritis in her hip and also is having her hair start to fill back in. She had a rapidly receding hairline and the rest of her hair was thinning dramatically. She's been on it since June and now has what I've always called baby hair filling in her hairline. She's been very satisfied and so far, I am too. The cost can be restrictive, but I've blown more money on things that didn't help. For instance, I used to nap all the time and never felt fully awake. After about 3 days on it, I was trying to nap before work and I couldn't to save my life! I wasn't dragging at work and fell asleep easily when I needed to. I ran out last friday and just got some more yesterday, and I don't plan on running out again.
