Okay time for some action.....
Heres allittle background info..... I just started working as a Critical Care tech in A ER along with 4 other people. two african american women(including myself) and 2 caucasian women. Okay, we all have to precept with someone and so far we all are doing a great job training..
Sooooo, last week a new girl started...(afr.amer.) she claimed to have transferred from another trauma center and has four years of experience in the trauma setting.....
Now I have finished precepting and i work evenings... shes precepting days......
According to the nurses, this new tech has NO EXPERIENCE WHATSO EVER!! She has no idea on how to do vitals (manually)
or CPR!!! She was working a trauma by herself(w/o precept to supervise) because she claimed she had all this experience.......They ended up telling her to step aside because she was doing COMPRESSIONS THE WRONG WAY
then she makes a comment to the other techs about the deceased saying "ewww his finger nail are dirty... he must have AIDS" no lie, her exact words!
Now my problem is that because she is african american, people are getting her CONFUSED WITH ME!!!!!!!!! 2 people have called me by her name!
I immediately correct them! It really bothers me because #1 I wear glasses, she doesnt 2# my hair is jet black with bronze highlites in the front, chin length bob, hers is straight, brown, 3in above the waist in length & 3# Im 5 years older at least 20lb heavier, shes 90 lbs soak-n-wet...
What is the Deal??? Why are people confusing us!?
I have worked so hard during my precepting learning, showing my coworkers that I am dependable, smart etc. Now because we apparently look "similiar"
people are confusing us!!!
Guys, this bothers me, seriously! Please help ? How can I make this stop before it gets worse? What do I do? PLease any advise???????
