No Rap Please

  1. If you were stranded on a dessert Island what CD would you keep and which ones would you glue together to make an escape raft?

I have a pretty eclectic taste - liking most music from heavy rock through to classical and even some opera but I can't stand either Rap or the real "whiney" Country and Western.

I love soft rock, rock, concert band music as well as some classical.
    hate RAP!
    Everything else I can tolerate.

I'd go for the classic rock myself.
As far as Rap is concerned...I can't handle it.

Yup, I concur that the best use for the rap CD's is to make a raft out of them. I like a variety. Too much of anything gets old after a while so I would want a little classical, some show tunes, a little light jazz, some new age, some classic rock, some bluegrass and country, and some other odds and ends of various ethnic music thrown in for good measure.

I'm with you, Gwen...ditto the above. And LOVE Broadway Musicals as well. Can't handle rap or the fast jazz..(where I can't follow the "melody")... but like the Blues type of jazz. Love blues, anyway. And ofcourse all the "oldies" ! (as in late 60's to mid/late 70's).

hmm... I like all music.... rap INCLUDED.
and.... Hard Rock.... and... Opera... my fave is La Boheme....

and... I love my new age collection...

    but... honestly...
I'd bring a book., and glue the rest together to get home...then... I'd listen to whatever I wanted to...

Well that makes three of us! I'd build a boat out of every CD ever made of rap and that ear bendin', knee slappin' stuff!
I'd bring my jazz, classical choral works, some good jammin' gospel choirs, light rock and some broadway musical CD's, oldies for sure, and my American Idol CD. NO HEAVY METAL... can't handle it anymore, so I'd have to add it to the boat.

    Aimee,
Do you concur? Had to laugh :chuckle when I saw the word "concur" from "Catch Me If You Can."

I like all music...rap included. But, I absolutely love the Beatles, so anything by that group would be my for my listening pleasure if I was stranded.

hmmmmm Gwenith . . . . . . I'm wondering what kind of DESSERT this little island is made of? Chocolate chip cookie dough? Chocolate Lush Cake? Strawberry Short Cake with whipped cream?

I'm not usually a craver of sweets . .but my husband and I started the Atkins Diet last week (4 pounds for me so far) and tonight I'm craving something sweet.

Which CDs? Classic Rock to listen to and Rap to build the raft with.

Billie Joel is a must for me plus Rush, Rap would have never been broght to the island, so I'd be stranded, listn' to tunes.

Cake, Ben Harper, Peter Gabriel, the Police, The Beatles, Mozart --esp. the Requiem, Beethovan's 9th symphony, Barber's Adagio for strings, LOTS of choral music (I sing in a professional chorus, so I have lots of favorites), Jazz--Miles Davis, Hancock, Monk, Medeski, Martin, & Wood.

I wouldn't save any rap CDs in a dire emergency, but I do have a few that I enjoy.
