New forum???

  1. Hey just wondering if there was any way of getting a new forum added for those of us serious about changing eating habits and losing wieght. Or if anyone would like to become email buddies. After all we are nurses and encourage healthier lifestyles...shouldn't we try to live that way too? What ya'll think??

Sounds like a great idea to me but I have no idea how to get a forum added. I have been considering going to weight watchers, but I haven't done anything about it yet.

I checked into ww online, but it was like $60 for 3 months and then $14.95 a month after that. I really can't afford to do that right now, I do have Deal-a-Meal, which I have used before and it was a big help, and I allso have the food mover (same principle as deal a meal). Anyhow I'm thinking of going back to that, but need to be able to talk with others about the ups and downs of "dieting" or "lifestyle change".

My mom is trying the Atkins diet, you know the "less sugar more fat" diet?

I definatly don't need to lose weight or anything, but I am thinking about cutting out sugar all together.........which is going to be hard since I love bread and foods w/ carbs...

    Duh, forgot the link: http://atkinscenter.com/

I would love that. I don't need to lose weight but I do need to get in better shape. Dr. said I was scrawny. GRRRRRRR. I think Brian added a new forum the other day but I cannot remember what it was.

By the way I am a wolverine. From Toledo living now in Columbus. I am a wolverine surrounded by nutty buckeyes especially right now.....

Brian, of course, is the only one who can add a forum, and I don't know if there's enough users who would use it to warrant it or even if that's something he'd want to do. You'd have to ask him directly. Even if he's not, though, he might be willing to make it an ongoing *sticky* thread in Off-Topic or something.

I gave up dieting many years ago, but I am trying to generally reduce carbs in my diet, and made my only New Year's resolution in many years--to start working out again, every day if possible.
Since Jan. 1, I'm 6 for 6 so far and I must say I'm pretty proud of myself. A little sore, but I have more energy already.

I'm constantly on a diet.. and a place to voice successes and failures and have the support of fellow nurses who are going through the same things I am would be great !!

I am not dieting, that is a four letter word, that the moderators should ban!!! LOL!

I am getting back ito the Zone. It is similar to the atkins diet, but more carbs, it's more of a balance. 30% Protein 40%CHO and 30% Fat.

Started today, did OK. WE had rib eye staeak for dinner, which made hubby happy, he can't have steak w/o tater tots, and I did not eat one! So I had my steak and a huge pile of steamed broccholi. I did good for bkft and dinner too.

I used my Gazelle freestyle for 7 min this am.

I am taking it in babysteps!!

I find the real key to being successful in a program of eating right (note diet word avoided here) is to PLAN your meals. PLAN and pacl bkft on the go, lunch on the go, and have a dinnner on the go back up plan (like a low fat froz dinner, not exactly 30-40-30, but better than McD's!!)

Anyway, I came home from supermarket today, and annouced my new plan to hubby. I said do NOT sabatage m, or even think of putting one of these tots on my plate (he cooked) b/c if I get any fatter, I won't be able to wipe my own arse! He laughed and said, "Isn't that what our kids are for??!!" (Evil snort!)

Anyway, I once had set up a forum for people who wanted to talk "diet" on a free bb site www.ezboards.com . The bottom line is, lots of peope said they woud participate, but didn't. Probably better to check the one Karen suggested.

Good luck to all in their endeavors! Pray for me to have some willpower, b/c I have NONE!!!

I`ll try anything to find some of that'willpower", mine has vanished. Even if I just get my big butt out the door in the am, and walk...You know, as I fall asleep every nightI promise myself that"tomorrow" will be THE day...And you know about waiting for tomoorow, don`tcha??? So, count me in on whatever gets figured out....i have given up on"diets", and instead just try to eat "better"...like the brocolli instead of theose tatortots(luv em)
Try to eat more fishy stuff...less fatty stuff...but if I don`t get moving will be in vain...
