Need your ideas and input (long post, sorry)

  1. I have a very dear friend who is an aide at the facility where my mom's been staying. This person and I are close friends, who worked side by side as STNA'S for 2 years sharing the blood, sweat ,laughter, and tears of caring for the residents day after day. Well lately, she hasn't been feeling well at all, been having flulike symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, weakness, recurrant upper resp. infections, plus she's been suffering from quarter sized red semi raised red bumps all over both legs. So she asked several doctors what their opinion was. some said spider bites, but these bumps don't itch at all. They are sensitive, but don't itch. Anyway, she went to her regular Doctor and he drew a ton of blood labs and blood values. The doctor's office called yesterday, and said that the doctor wants to talk to you. My friend said, well, I don't have time to fool around put him on. Well, the nurse said No you don't understand the doctor needs to talk to you IN PERSON. So it sounds pretty ominous from here. Oh, but the best part is that the doctor is GOING ON VACATION and can't see you until the 13th of May. Can you believe this crap??? So my emotions are raw, and confused to say the least. On the one hand I feel if it were truly catastrophic, the doc would have seen her now, before his vacation. Or would he think that the diagnosis was so bad that it wouldn't matter if 3 weeks passed before his metting with her. This person is very special to me, and has helped through a lot of rough times. Se was the first person to come up to the hospital when mom was so very sick, and is one of the first to talk to her in the morning at Harborside. Can you please give me an idea of what could be going on with her. I'm scared for her, and can't stand the thought of a potentially devastating diagnosis. I'd appreciate any feedback you could share. Love to you all, Warrior Woman.

Thanks Karen. I appreciate it. This is just so puzzling to me. But I'll do everything in my power to help her get through it. She's very special to me. You folks are the greatest.WW.

I think that doctor needs to get a hit on the head, and get his act together! I think he must be the most insensitive jerk I have heard of yet! I would call his office and tell him to see me now, or have whomever is covering for him see me! I wouldn't want to be the person he put on HOLD until he came back from vacation!! How would HE like it??? I don't think so!

I agree, don't call with that sort of info and then say, "Well, you'll have to wait till I get back from my vacation." I would DEMAND that one of the Md's in his office talk to her NOW and if the phone call didn't work, I can give her a few lessons on clearing out an office when they act like jerks. How would he like to be told this and then said, "Hey just sweat it out till I can work you in.....JERK!" Tell her to call NOW!!!

I agree this is rediculous. Go to his office and refuse to leave until someone talks to you. I think this should be considered emotional abuse by this idiot Dr. Best of Luck to your friend and Prayers for her going up as I type.
