Need a recipe

  1. The recipe I am looking for is a chocolate cake that comes out of the oven swimming in chocolate pudding...you eat it still hot with ice cream on it.

I don't remember anything about how it was made, my Mom used to make it and it was heaven...I know I am not nuts and someone else out there has to know what this stuff is, if I even knew the name it would help.

    Thanks

Found this one, about a year ago, on the internet.

Delicious even if not the one for which you are looking.

    Hot Chocolate Pudding Cake

1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon water
3 squares (3 ounces) bittersweet chocolate (or 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips)
    1 tablespoon butter
    1 cup sugar
    1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    3 large eggs, separated
    1/2 cup milk
Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream

    DIRECTIONS:
    1. In small saucepan combine water, chocolate, and butter over medium heat. Heat just until chocolate is melted, stirring frequently. Cool.

    2. In large mixer bowl combine sugar, flour, salt, vanilla, egg yolks, and milk. Beat until well mixed. Beat in cooled chocolate mixture. (Can be done up to 1 1/2 hours ahead of time.)

    3. Heat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease 1-quart casserole or soufflé dish. In clean, dry mixer bowl with clean, dry beaters, whip egg whites to stiff moist peaks. Fold whites into chocolate mixture and pour into prepared casserole. Place casserole in a larger pan in oven. Pour boiling water into large pan halfway up casserole. Bake 45 minutes, or until firm on top. Serve warm or cold.

Sounds like a chocolate ganache cake recipe I saw once - the middle is still squishy on purpose. I searched under "molten chocolate cake" and found a number of these types of recipes.

Here's one that looks pretty yummy. These actually have the soft chocolate center.

I think this may be it, the boiling water seems familiar.

Thank you everyone, I am always on the look out for new recipes. To brag I really am a darn good cook and have a pretty impressive recipe collection, anymore a serious shortage of time leaves us eating take out or dinners from the freezer or a box. Someday I'll retire and spend my days cooking and leading my family down the path to an early death...but it will sure taste good getting there.

There's a NZ recipe where a sauce is formed [by the addition of hot water]. It is really nice, I'll see if I can find it

LOL !! I came over here straight from the Adkins thread too !

KidsRfun... I don't know the recipe you are searching for, just wanted to say, "Look at Julia Childs!"

She swears it is all the fake stuff that is killing us...she says never...never... eat margarine and anything with fake and hydrogenated fat in it.....

She started saying that 50 years ago.

There must be truth in it !

So, your home cooking will "save your family!"
