Need a Family Sedan. Anyone hate/love theirs?

  1. Probably going the used route, spending about $9k. Do mostly city driving and have two kids in car seats. Any suggestions? TIA!

I have a 1996 Nissan Maxima that I love. It has 144000 miles on it and its still going strong. Plus it has an awesome Bose sound system to drown out the noisy kids (kidding!!)

Could you spare another $2,000? I see brand new Hyundai Elantras advertised for under $11,000. 100,000 mile/10 year warranty...all the bells and whistles. I have one with 90,000 miles on it and have never had even a hint of trouble. Better grab one while you can - before the factory in Korea goes up in a big mushroon cloud.

OOOH Those Hyundai's are NICE!!!!! My friend has one of the new ones....It looks like a Lincoln. When I get a new is high on my list. I have a friend who is a tow truck driver and he says in 10 years on the job he has picked up only 2 hyundais( as opposed to 7 or 8 GM cars a day!!!).....both were flat tires......Now thats a person to ask about a car!!!!!!

Anything Toyota! You could get a used Camry or Avalon. Most reliable cars made!

I was thinking of a Hyundai. Forget Nissan Maxima or Altima. I can't afford the insurance as the get stolen big time 'round here!
I'll serch the Toyotas. Consumer Reports seems to like 'em too! Thanks you guys!

I got a new car last fall. I did a lot of research and would have bought a new Hyundai if I only had myself to consider.

Sadly, given that the husband is 6'6" and the boys are 6'2" and 5'10" a "family sedan" for us is a Pontiac Bonneville.

Third Caravan--Got one used with only60,000 miles on it, 1994 model bought in Sept 03 for $5,000. Our 1993 model with 129,000 +miles needed repairs.

Figured if I got such great City millage out of last one, this one
should last at least 3 -5 more years. Great for us as we now have two lanky teenagers---easy to use car seats in them too.

I love my van, Pontiac Montana, good on gas and has tons of room. I bought mine from a car rental company and it was a lot cheaper that way but still had a full warranty.
