Naming our airport after schuttle commander

  1. Hi everybody

    Thought yall might be interested.

In observance of the space schuttle Columbia disaster, we're changing the name of our airport. It will no longer be called "Amarillo International". It will be called "Rick Husband International", after fallen space schuttle commander and hometown boy Rick Husband.

I think this is a great honor and although I didnt Know him, he sounds like a good man. He spent his entire life pursuing his dream to go into space and still put God and his family first. I think its an appropriate monument to someone who reached the pinnicle of aviation.

    Take it easy

That is quite an honor. I want Ellington Field (a mile from me) to be renamed "Columbia 7 Field" as it is the airfield where the NASA astronauts practice their flying... perhaps even "Columbia/Challenger Field" or something to that effect that also honors the Challeneger astronauts.
