My trip to the county pool (rant)

  1. Considering i was wearing a 2 piece swimsuit and being 27 years old, i think i had the most on there.

Little 11 and 12 year olds wearing tops that i can only call 'glorified pasties'. STRING BIKINIS for LITTLE GIRLS!!!! Could not believe it!

My dad would have freaked if i even thought about getting one of those when i was 16, let alone being 12!

One girl, about 5'5" and all of 100 pounds was sitting on the side of the pool alone (about 14-15). I overheard a group of boys talking about her (remotely the same age phsycially), and one said "what, maaaaaaan she's fat, look at her stomach! And she ain't got no ***s." JEEZ!

Aside from that there were 3 people where wearing white and/or beige suits. With no suit liner.

    White/Beige suit + no liner = WWWTMI

Yes, im getting older, i can feel it. I just couldn't get over some of the stuff i saw today:uhoh21:

Ah well... in a couple more years these same little girls will be married raising their own little bikini-boppers, while their hubbies still stroll the pools google-eyed and drooling....

Having only raised boys I can only stand aghast at what some of these young girls wear!

Last summer I saw a pair of shorts at wal-mart in a size 6 that were barely 4 inces long and the "crotch material" was maybe an inch wide. for 5-6 y/o's !!!!!! They were also hip huggers. GRRRRRR

ewwwwwwwww !! I would really hate to be a girl trying to grow up in these times. I grew up in the 80's and it wasn't nearly that bad. :stone

Being in high school in the 90's wasn't easy, but it still doens't compare to today.

Makes one ponder what lies ahead...........?

Maybe by 2020 we'll all be running around nekkid.

THEN someone will pop up with the idea of CLOTHING being totally SEXY !

Sadly, my 14 y/o sis thinks that there's no greater joy in life than presenting her HUGE top to boys while at the pool. She prances around and is SO PROUD of herself for being rather well endowed. And this seems to be the norm for young teens. :angryfire: It peeves me off royally. I mean, she's just a baby herself. How can she DO this???

I blame the maufactureres of clothing. As another poster said, clothes are nearly non-existant. I mean, I"m in my 20's, and after boycotting shorts for a few summers because they are too short now, I finally broke down and bought a pair. I'm still afraid my butt will fall out. But the young girls like them, and think they are normal. GRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I also blame the media, tv, etc for their (the kids today) attitudes. Saying a girl is "fat" or having no "boobs" is RUUUDE. Already at such young ages they are so judgemental. And girls having to dress like sleezes to get "attention" is so sad at age 11 or 12, especially.

I also blame parents for not bringing their kids up with a healthier sense of what is the "right" body type is (that would be uh, HEALTHY...) and how to dress it nicely. It's all so skewed and I am allowing my kids less and less tv as time goes by. I can't stand what I see and hear. I think Steph has the right idea. maybe I will take a ballpeen hammer to the TV SET and end it all...... :angryfire

Sounds like an annoying day at the pool! It's terrible what we women have to endure. How can 5'5" and 100 pds. be too much!?

Now me...i would have walked right up to those boys and stuck my foot in it by telling them what I thought of what they were saying. Then, their mom probably would have come and knocked me out since most kids that act that way don't have much direction coming from home either. (though I do agree with the statements about the media affecting kids' attitudes)

I wouldn't be too worried CNM2B. Atleast out here, the parents of those teenage boys have no clue where they are, nor do they care. My 9 year old step-daughter gets really frustrated with me. I do not allow 1/2 shirts, bikini's or any clothes exposing large amounts of skin. Her mother does allow this. I remind her that she has a little sister that looks up to her at our house. Then of course, starts "You stay under my roof......" you know how it goes. There are a lot kids at our pool where there parents are not supervising. Drives me crazy. I have two young children who are always getting bumped and knocked over by the kids who are in desperate need of that parental supervision. Wanna here scary.....they had to institute a rule at our pool: Children under 5 years old must be accompanied by an adult. ugh! I can not believe that would have to be a rule. I would not send my 9 year old there without myself or hubby accompanying her. :angryfire

I recently read this and found it interesting:

Child's Complaints About Skimpy Clothing Styles Get Attention

    Posted 9:33 a.m. EDT, May 24, 2003

SEATTLE--Nordstrom officials say they're paying attention to an 11-year old that wants more modest clothing.

Ella Gunderson of Redmond, Wash, complained that clerks at a Seattle-area Nordstrom's told her there is only one look for girls -- low-riding jeans that show their belly buttons or underwear. Gunderson wrote the store a letter, saying she doesn't want to walk around half-naked.

The store manager wrote back, saying she agrees there should be choices for everyone. The Seattle clothing store chain says it will educate purchasing managers and sales people on offering a range of fashion choices.
