My tanning problem

  1. OK, I know that I'm going to catch a lot of shyt because "tanning is bad for you", but I'm a sun goddess. I have to get a tan.

    Here's the problem:
I bought a tanning package last week. On the first day I went, I only went in for 10 minutes, which is how I start out every year.
When I got to work that night, everyone was like, "wow Melissa, you're really fried!" Of course, I hadn't yet noticed that my skin was quite lobsterish looking.

I found out today that they had just put new bulbs in all of the beds. Now, shouldn't they warn "new"tanners of this? I go to the tanning salon every spring to get a nice base tan. If I would have known this, I only would have went in for 5 minutes instead.
But instead, I have been suffering with a burnt bum for days. MY a$$ is so sore I could scream......it looks like this

Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions besides lots of aloe vera and lotion.

So cool, I just did the same thing. Therewasa special atthe health club, and I figured, "yeah, lets fake-n-bake." I will never have a tattoo or body piercing, and only like to changemy appearance via melonin secretion

Oh - you don't have to apologize for yourself, lol.

Anyway, just like you, i went for 10 minutes, the bulbs were 100w, and i didn't even wear underwear. I even put the elcelorator lotion on my skin.

Wow, that 10 minutes changed my shade. My basement cells responded in 24 hours. My skin turned tan, wow. It felt dry and itchy a litle on my back where I couldn't reach to moisturize.

I tan well, historicaly, but don't want to look "All fired up" It's fun not to look like all the other "palefaces"

It's an obvious change, and I think it is okay to radiate with ultraviolet light once a week for 10 minutes. I thought it would take more than 10 miutes to get the tan I did. Next time I'll wear underwear since my buns did feel sensitive.

I think it is good to do this to kill bacteria in/on your dermis, and to slough off any weak RBC that were on their way out anyway.

    "all fired up"

:chuckle they should've warned you! I've been asked before if I want a regular or higher bulb...but I like to nap in there so I like regular!

Hope your burn feels better...first time I went this winter my butt got burnt & itched for days :imbar I looked like I had ants in my pants trying not to scratch in public!

    Sorry no suggestions

    No comment....

They should warn you, but the place I used to go to never did. I have extremely pale skin and blistered I was so fried.

Not all places are like that though.

Did you buy a bottle of aloe for your bum? Bath and Body has some great stuff for burns.

    I feel your pain....yowzie.....

Try and find a tanning salon that uses a system called "Ultra-Bronz." You cannot burn from this, and after 3 sessions you have an amazing natural tan, even on the palest skin...and then you only need to keep it up by going every week or so...depends on your skintype/tone, and how dark you want to get...It is much more expensive, but it looks completely natural, not like the other tanning booths/beds, and lasts a nice long time!!!!!!

I'm not sure if they had a legal obligation to tell you, but it would have been a nice courtesy. "Hey, we just got new bulbs, might wanna adjust your time a littel."

Nothing more that some aloe, and a few days rest will do you any good now.

Hope your butt feels better soon! I hate a burnt azz!

Get some silvadene and rub that on your burnt buttocks...(kinda like the sound of that burnt buttocks...hehe) that will take care of the sunburn REAL fast

    Dave
p.s you will need a script for the silvadene

Sorry you got a burned bum! I'm a very pale so I don't even touch a tanning bed. I don't go out in the sun w/o my SPF 50 and I still get burned if I stay out to long.

Wow. Dood, I think we're being just a teensy bit aggressive on Mario. It's one thing to slam a person when they deserve it, at that time but not when they are trying to just participate in a discussion.

All this negativity is bad karma.

Yea and there is too much of it on these boards lately. WTF is up w/people are around here? SHEESH! NO warning on this attack. I usually know where to expect rudeness and avoid it. But lately, it's too widespread for me. Maybe I need a break from here a while. Hint: if you don't like an individual post, try IGNORING it. There is an ignore button if you don't like a particular poster, even. It's A more effective way to deal with this problem.

Oh and good luck on your tanning. I have no advice or words for except I hope you heal soon. That's the risk you take, unfortunately since they are not regulated really.
