My special aunt is dying!!!

  1. I have received some very sad news today. My special Aunt Velma is dying in a Wichita Kansas ICU- really do not know specifics just that she took a hard fall-swollen belly- and has had the Last Rites- a Catholic tradition of annointing with oil and prayers for those facing death!1 I figure she must have had a head injury, broken bones, who knows what. We really do not have the full story. She was also diabetic.
She and my Uncle Marcy raised 8 children and lost one at birht. they were a strongCatholic family to look up to. When I was in nursing school 1966-1968, she was like a second mother to me. My husband to be and I spent many Sundays with the family. They would go to Mass and come home and for lunch they would have chocolate cake and smash vanilla ice cream up in it. What a treat. I can still tast it today!!
After my own mother died she became my substitue mom. Her husband Marcy is my father's brother!!
Evidently the children have all told their mom goodbye, so I am just waiting to hear from one of them. My son graduates from college on Saturday so we may make a trip to Wichita on Sunday. Their children would be their for us. the sad thing is we are planning a big family reunion in August!!!
She told me she was ready to go several years ago- said her chidren were raised and all good children and she was ready to go to heaven. She was happy they all practiced their Catholic faith.
Would you please pray for the children and husband for me and Aunt Velma. It would mean alot to me and I will do likewise if you let me know.
Thank you so much. I know this is somewhat off topic, but i needed a few prayers tonight. 68RN

Sorry about your Aunt. My favorite Aunt, my late father's only surviving sister died in 2005 after falling and fracturing her hip. I didn't get to go to her funeral because I had to work, and I still feel bad about that.

I will add her to my list of people to pray for when I say my rosary. Please know that because of her faith, she will be welcomed with open arms into the kingdom of heaven.

Thank you all for your prayers!!! I appreciate it so much. I did find out a bit more info. She ruptured her spleen and broke 3 ribs and I cannot remember one more thing. Then she spiked a 102 fever and of course with cracked ribs are you suprised she ended up on a ventolator and pneumonia!! Hopefully they started antibiotics in time. But she is holding her own. The doctor told the family there was a chance of survival. She is a strong woman. So I will keep you posted. I guess she fell awhile back at her daughters house and spent a week in the hospital and this time was getting up in the night and due to neuropathy in her feet, got her feet twisted and took a bad fall!!! I guess my uncle is so very sad and just hangs his head, having a rough time. Did not get to go to Wichita today as I am trying to recover from bronchitis. Got my sone graduated from college yesterday so today is very quiet!!! Thanks again my friends for your prayers and concerns. If I can return the favor please let me know. We all have to help each other in this life!!! Sincerely, 68RN
