My dinner with Mario!!

  1. That got your attention, huh?

Well, actually Mario, Jamesdotter and I, part of the allnurses representing Stumptown (Portland, OR) met for drinks today at The White Eagle, a landmark Portland brewpub that is said to have its own ghost (a prostitute that was murdered there.)

Mario is exactly like I pictured him, except more buff. He rides his bicycle so has those kinda legs like ya see on soccer players and bike messengers.

Wish more of you Portland allnurses coulda been there. Heck, wish ALL the allnurses coulda been there; I feel like we're all family!!

We had some pretty good microbrews and happy hour food and talked us some trash.

Mario, if you're on right now, write back and tell us how the music was. Did any cute chicks come in and hit on you after your middle aged "dates" left?

(Jamesdotter is a girl--get it? "James' daughter.")

It was great meeting both of you!! Next time, margaritas at La Carreta.

    From your honorary paisano

Speaking of which, micro, have you ever seen that movie "Children of the Corn?"

Are you in Nebraska? (which would make you a Cornhusker!!!! GO BIG RED!!!!)

    Or Iowa?

You don't have to tell; a girl needs her privacy.

Those are just the places I think of first for legendary fields of maize.

Well, anyway, when you come to Oregon, I will show you all the fun places I know, and you can meet mario and jamesdotter and even some other nice folks.

And I might even cook you some liver and onions and mashed taters.

My best friend lives in Portland. I flew out to see her five years ago and then I drove on up to Seattle, Vancouver, and Victoria Is. My friend drove me down the Oregon coast to CA. I've never seen such beautiful and scenic and clean beaches! And all open to the public. And the Lighthouses and otters. We stayed at Otter Inn...where the lighthouse is. I brought home nearly every smooth & shiny black rock on the Oregon beaches !

    You all are so lucky!
Oregon reminded me a lot of Pittsburgh....the hills, river, bridges, white frame houses up on the hills.
I hear babyboomers are buying up the beach property as 2nd homes...too bad. I loved the small coastal towns, Lincoln City et al.
You all are so lucky to live there !
Next time, have one for me! Wish I coulda been there !

    Why is it called stumptown?

My hubby and I are coming out to Oregon next summer to visit my mother-in-law who lives about an hour or so south of Portland. If possible, let's plan a get-together then--would love to meet all the Portland area folks!

Micro and I are going to do lunch one of these days somewhere between our places (yep....you guessed it......in the middle of a cornfield :chuckle ). There's corn EVERYWHERE around here.......from Ohio to Kansas as far as I know. Wish you could join us!

So, Stevie, find us a bar that plays great oldies, serves great brewskis, and we're good to go!! See ya' next year!
