moving out of nyc

  1. My best friends husband is looking at moving them out of NYC. He says he is interested in Kentucky but doesn't know too much about it (interest stemmed from a quick drive through on a road trip). Does anyone have any info that I can pass on to him and his wife about the area? (ex. cost of living, crime, rating on education for their 3 children). THANKS !!

Whatever it is, The crime rate and cost of living is BOUND to be less than New York. I hear you even have to lock your doors there. I'm just a country boy though and don't know much about the city life.

I lived in KY for the first 17 years of my life, then returned after college for one year and a half. The countryside is beautiful -- at least when it's green -- but there is NO WAY I would go back there to live! I haven't even visited there in about 19 years, but have talked with a few people who never left, and I don't think it's changed much.

Is the reason you won't return because it is so slow? Or other reasons???????/

I lived in Ky for over 40 years. My oldest son, mom and dad still live there. My daughter lives in N.Y.N.Y. Cost of living is a lot lower in Ky. The state is quite beautiful. There are rednecks, but there are also educated people. It is much like any other place you live. There is good and bad. I don't move back because I don't like to go back to any place I have been before. Too little time before I die. Gary
