Most Unusual Side Job - page 3

Hi, all. A recent response to a post I wrote suggesting finding a per diem job for skills maintenance/acquisition. While it was a valid point, one of my inner responses was "Hell, no! Any more work... Read More

Considering starting a laundry service business on the side. My son asked why not something in Nursing. My reply was so I won't get burned out. I have heard so many nurses say that they are burned out. I want to do something totally different, but as a new nurse, my money is quite low. So I need something that requires very little start-up money. I figure: wash someone's clothes in my garage machines, deliver and make get extra $$.
What a brilliant "simple yet clever thinking" although, "for me", the idea is so sad but it makes me happy. Like Sad-Happy... LOL

    Anyhoo....Here's my random spill...

I have done print/ad modeling during my younger years, like younger years, really!!! Thus, that's how I got into photography. As a matter of fact I have the necessary equipment/gadgets for me to say that I can be a "fully pledged" photographer and get paid a decent amount of "dinero" and that is also due to the fact that I know I have the skills and have years of experience to back it up. However, I have not yet charged (not even a single penny) when I have covered celebrations such as wedding/birthdays of my friend's or co-worker's. Majority of them have insisted and have tried to compensate me. But I have always refused to accept them. Some of you maybe wondering why.... Well, it's really simple, I do photography for fun. Besides, I'm already getting free food, spirits, and enjoying a great party, well ok...there were some that were not so much.

At this time, I'm considering applying to become a flight crew as a part/fun time job. Maybe flying from SF to LA, followed by spacing from Seattle to New York, or seeing the great blue-vanilla skies of Arizona, or how about chowing down on the streets of New Orleans. Just endless, possibilities, right? I have spoken to a few flight attendants and I have dated one before, they say being a flight crew isn't all that. But I tell them, nursing, at times, isn't all that either.

It's nursing related, but I was paid to be the nurse on set for an episode of Rachael Ray because of a segment where they had audience members using BBQs as part of a contest.

Wedding photography -- until I realized that drunk and stressed out people obsessing over the perfect wedding are about as much fun as sick and stressed out people obsessing over the next Dilaudid dose.

Davey, maybe would should go in "together" and try the Gigolo gig. It may take a little while to gin up a client base so we may have to run the business by hand until then.
You HAVE to put up a beverage alert if you're going to say things like that!

(Nice way to evade TOS, though!)

Maybe you should take OldDude up on his offer!

I've never had any side jobs after becoming a nurse. Except for the usual housework, yard work, and . . . watching my grandkids.

Of course they do! Don't you ever listen to gossip and rumors?

This is so true Ruby. My eldest son married a few years back and some folks did have issues. (Not him).

My husband & I have a woodcrafting part is to paint & stain-the fun stuff! It's very relaxing.

And-though it's not a business yet- we have chickens & pygmy goats. Animals are a great stress reliever!
