    Hiya Madwife!

It's nice to have the kids on a day off now and again, isn't it?

Here, it's only 6:40 a.m. and the kids have school, dh just left for work, so I'm sitting in my jammies at the computer wondering if I really have enough energy to clean out my desk.

I'll probably have to go offline for a couple of days to shovel all the papers out.

    Then again, it's good exercise.

    Have a nice day, everyone!

Morning Kay and Angie (and everyone yet to come):

Had one of the best weekends with my DH and a group of friends. We didn't go dancing, we didn't drink, we didn't do much but we DID spend quality time upon a great meal

Ahhhhhhhh the simple pleasures of life. God is good and I am thankful each and every morning.

Off to work, and run errands as usual on a busy Monday morning. Will check on ya later. Have a blessed day me cyber friends.

Hey, all! Just saw the thread with the baby possums. Cute!

Had a great weekend....except for the rain that hit Sunday afternoon. Nothing worse than taking down wet canvas in the middle of a shower. Now it is back to work tonight. Waaaah!

Can I have a 9 pm coffee call? :chuckle

    Morning everyone-

Hope everyone has been ok the past few days. Don't remember the last time I was on?? This was the long week for work and as usual they wore us out. There is a rehab position at the hosp that is coming available and I want it so I am going to talk to NM this morning about doing it. If not, I am ready to move to another hospital. Anyhoo...............

The hospital took in 30 of the hurricane Rita evacuees from Lake Charles so I was blessed to go and help take care of them yesterday. They are all from a LTC facility. They had an 18 hour trip on a Greyhound bus and from what some of the other nurses said when they arrived they were in pitiful condition. I can not believe how we treat our elderly in this country. Almost everyone of them have pressure ulcers-serious pressure ulcers that have been unattended to for quite some time. I had to walk out in the hall to keep from weeping in front of them. They were so greatful for the smallest amount of kindess showed to them. So very, very sad.

Well, off to get moving on with my day. Pray for me to get the rehab position as I know this is where I can do alot of good for pts. One more little tidbit of news from me, I have been smoke free for 8.5 days. Wellbutrin is working fabulously as well as the thousands of red hots that I have "smoked" since going smoke free!!

Hope all are well, have a blessed day and stay safe.

    Good Morning from work (again)

    5 patients, 2 RN's and 1 CNA.

Our electricity went out for 12 hours yesterday - interesting here at the hospital when the generator came on - some stuff that was supposed to work, did not. Home was interesting too . . . .couldn't wash any clothes, had to figure out how to set cell phone alarm, etc. Electricity came back on at 11 p.m. per my dd as I went to bed at 6 p.m. after coloring and reading a couple of books with my 4 year old. He fell right to sleep. I did not.

So, here we go . . . Happy Monday.

    Good morning everyone!

Got to get started cleaning up the house after my weekend at work. Never fails.....the house is clean and tidy (somewhat, anyway) on Friday, but when Monday comes around again, it's a mess. As soon as I got in the door on Sunday night, I put my bad down and started loading the dishwasher. I can't stand clutter!! Why, oh why didn't I marry someone who likes to keep things neat and orderly?? I can't complain, though, he takes the kids out on trips on my weekends to work.....yep, one guy, 4 kids. He's a good guy even if he's sloppy!

Yesterday he took the kids to Brandywine Battlefield to watch a Revolutionary War re-enactment. My son had his "gun" and was sniping the British from behind a tree. He asked my husband if the soldiers had any rocket launchers...... :uhoh21:

Madwife.....I've tried making zucchini bread before, and it didn't turn out right for me, either. My mom used to make it when I was young, and it was so good! I do make a good bannana bread, though! Hope the kids don't drive you insane today....I'm glad 2 of mine will be at school....

Angie, Jess, Sue, Tweety....have a great day! Jess, I love those times when you're with family and friends.....conversation and a good meal are one of the greatest things in life!!

Kelly.....I worked LTC for about 10 years, and I agree it's a shame that we don't take better care of our elderly....but more often than not, the nurses at the LTC facility are doing the best they can with limited staff and supplies....it makes me sick to see the "celebrities" in this country throw money away and yet we have kids and seniors that go without....Congrats with quitting smoking....I heard Wellbutrin does wonders.....how are your cravings?

Steph....hope the rest of your day goes smoother for you. It's terrible working nights with little sleep......shudder, shudder....memories!

    Thunder, Fun2care and Dusk.....have a good day!

    Check in later!

Good morning all! Monday again already...

    First: hellos!

Madwife, hope you have a good day with the kiddos at home... I'm jealous, would love to be home hanging out in my PJs right now! And don't worry about the zuke bread, if your dh thought it was good, go with that!

Angie, good luck with the cleaning, need to tackle my office/spare room myself, the BF has turned it into clothes storage... must convince him that clothes go in closets.

Jess, I love weekends spent like that... I find simple pleasures far more enjoyable than the previous party days. Then I worry that I'm getting old!

Grinnurse, I'm so glad you were able to help some of these people... it is really deplorable how the elderly are treated in this country. Best of luck applying for the other position and congrats on the smoke-free living!

Steph, hope they figure out the generator thing before the next outage. Have a good day at work.

jkaee, rocket launchers in the Revolutionary war, huh? Too funny... good luck with your cleaning.

Hi Tweety, suebird, Fun, Thunderwolf & Dawn!

Weekend was good here. Had A&P on Saturday morning. This was the third week going over the cardiovascular system and I swear we didn't cover anything new. We were supposed to be learning about blood last week and this, but never got there. :angryfire I'm rather frustrated that we're not moving through this stuff faster. I hope the pace picks up!

We headed up to the Highland Games in the afternoon and had quite a nice time there visiting with friends and seeing all there was to see. Didn't see any authentic haggis... one place was selling a "haggis puff" but was made out of beef and the only organ it contained was liver... I'm sure it was far more palatable than the real stuff, however I still passed in favor of a forfar bridie.

Yesterday was a lovely cloudy fall day with a nice chill in the air, perfect for apple picking and cooking, so that's what I did. Very enjoyable way to spend the day, made even better by my boyfriend raving about my cooking.

Okay, suppose I should go tackle some work here... luckily this week will be a short one as I'm taking Friday off. Will check in again later!
