More Bushfires

  1. Hey guys, any one involved in the bushfires? I heard on the news that over a hundred homes have been lost in Canberra and there's more in the Snowys and Adelaide? Hope you are all safe and fire free! Does any one know about West Australia? Are they still burning?

    I worry about them,

    Canberra -- 3 dead
    -- 250 injured
    -- 400 homes destroyed
    -- over 1000 homeless

.....and, what really pisses me off, one lowlife blot on humanity arrested for looting the homes of people who had been evacuated. *****??

    The latest news --

    4 dead
    300 injured - 3 critical
    250 homes completely destroyed
    about 250 homes seriously damaged
about 1/3 of the city has no power, water or sewerage

-- this is our nation's capital, remember!! The fireys are trying to backburn around the city to form a ring of unburnable land -- weather report for tomorrow is hot, with gusty winds -- more of the same.

We are over an hours drive form the closest mountains where there is a lot of fires for the past 10 days - We are in the North East - A lot of the CFA (volunteers are up there from our district)
Anway for most of the day we have been covered in a thick blanket of smoke in our twin towns - It is very scary for the p[eople in the area
There have been over 65,000 Hectares of forest lost - at this stage no homes up our way - although that was this morning
Doesnt compare in any way with the devastation that has happened at Canberra- We are such a country of extremes
So hot in summer - we have had a couple of weeks of 35 degress plus (your 100) - Yet l still think that this is the greatest country on earth (Just my opinion)
We are only a small country (population wise) but a big country (area wise) and its hard when you get the summer like we have been having
Drought is the worst for many years - That has made us very vunerable to bushfires - we are good at fighting them and each state supports the other - But when you get so mnay fires on so many different fronts it makes it wreall hard to fight.

I find this hard to talk about and am probably not expressing myself well. I just hope God or mother nature sends lots and lots of rain reall soon,

I'm with Wendy here, keep us posted, thanks for the update oznurse69.

It's difficult not being able to do anything to help. All I have to offer is "cold" wind and that would make the situation worse.
