Can anyone explain what it means when a mobile phone has dual or tri band? Thanks

Essentially how far it will cover and the number of types of systems that it will cover. Actually a tri-band will work in the UK and the US, but the roaming charges can be outrageous. When I was commuting all of the time between the US and Bangkok, I got a spearate SIM card for over here so no roaming charges. If that is what you want to do, or be able to use your phone in other countries in the EU, get a separate SIM card for each. Definitely the cheaper way to go. If you are only going to be in the UK, you really don't need a tri band.
Hope that this helps.............
