miner movie

  1. Oh my gosh, I watched a really good movie last night about the flooded mine in Quecreek Somerset. They made it so quick I thought, "how could anything made in only three months be any good". I was wrong, it was excellent. Not patronizing or overly sentimental, just told the story from the trapped miner's point of view. It did not go into the rescue workers stories very much but no one could not do that in just two hours could they. Yeah, that would be a mini series.

I saw the real men on Oprah last week. I was crying through the whole show. To hear how they all made a pact together and tied themselves together in case they didn't make it out, they didn't want their families to worry that they may still be alive. They figured if they find one of us, they'll find all of us. One man didn't tie himself to the others because he said it would have been like giving up hope.

Darn! I missed it too. I think that was probably one of those movies that you watch that sticks with you for a long time. I felt that way after I watched that movie that started Jamie Lee Curtis where she was the mom of a boy that got shot while travelling in Italy and he died and they donated his organs to other people who were dying. It was based on a true story. I can't remember the name. I was so moved by that movie, I still think about it, and get choked up. Anyone else see it?
