Media's lost interest, but fires still burning...

  1. Here is a link to the latest news on the bushfire front - some light sprinkles on the weekend did nothing to dampen the bush.

My brother is home, but my dad has gone over now -- only good thing is, he is there as a consultant, & has a gammy knee/hip so isn't allowed on the front.

    Victorian bushfire crisis

For our US cousins, 2100 km = 1300 odd miles - that's a bloody long way!!

Please keep praying for all the fireys, and all the people who have been & will be affected still. In dad's words "unless we get a good 2 inches of rain, it won't stop before Bass Strait"......

Your right on the media. I have not heard anything. I thought the fires were out.

Horrible. I know hubby and I talked about moving around this Lake in southern Ohio but there is no way to fight fires well out there. I guess that is one good thing about the city. Are you anywhere near the fires?

Renerian, I'm actually in Brisbane, so they are nowhere near me. But my father & brother are both in the CFA (Country Fire Authority) - volunteer fireys in Victoria, so they are both part of the strike teams which are down there at the moment, so I guess that brings it a little closer to home.

I think your right about the impending possibility of war. I think the US still has some fire fighters in Australia.

So sorry to hear that your fires are still burning....The media has like a 14 day window of interest....WTF ??? is up with that.....As if you ignore it they will go away.....Had the same problem here in Az. last summer with our 1/2 million acre son was still evacuated, and once the media lost interest, was almost impossoble to find out anything.....

(((((HUGS))))) to all your fireys...they do a great hard dirty, dangerous job they do......
