Male Nurse to be

  1. Hello to all the nurses out there. I am nursing student and would like to know what areas would be good to specialize in?

There a million different specialities and a million different people on this board who are going to give you a million different answers.

I been working different med-surg areas for ten years to include general med-surg, med-surg with a focus on the trauma patient, med-surg neuro, and now I'm med-surg telemetry.

Welcome to the board. Good luck in school!

(P.S. Take the "male" out of the "male nurse to be" when you think and talk about yourself in nursing. A nurse is a nurse is a nurse. Just a humble suggestion.)

From one nurse to a nurse to be.

Don't tell 3rdShiftGuy , but I'm a male nurse too. My wife is studing nursing. She's going to be a female nurse.

I've crossed-dressed before. That's made me a male nurse dressed up as a female nurse.

I make an ugly looking female nurse. I look better as a male nurse.

    :chuckle :roll :chuckle

    Cheers to you!

welcome to the board! Good luck with nursing. We need lots of nurses, either male or female. Anything you specialize in will be a great asset to the profession. The nice thing about nursing is there are so many different options. If you don't like one then switch to another until you find one you do. The beauty of nursing school and clinicals is you get a little taste of everything. Anyways, good luck!

It seems to me that most of the guys go in to the more critical areas of nursing. Most of the guys in our hospital work in critical care, ED, or anesthesia. Maybe they like the adrenalin rush. This is the only place I have ever worked though, so that may just be the way things are here. Whatever, welcome to the BB, and welcome to nursing.

Hehehe....actually the "Guy" is to let you know that when I talk of things like "my man" or "my husband", it's clear. But when people I meet ask me what I do for a living, it's not "male nurse", it's "nurse".

Anyway, I've seen your website......you make an interesting looking nurse, male or female. :chuckle

Sadly, not of of those people up there you see on stage is me. My role has been demoted to sound man. I'm in the back of the audience making sure people can hear their lovely voices as clearly as possible. I work for the qeens (kings, whatever) of diva's you know!

The two men. . . er women. . . er whatever . . . are non other than:

    1) Ed Martin, RN
    2) Richard Lapo

The third woman is actually a woman! My wife! The True Queen of Divas! Also, a nursing student who will someday become a female nurse!

During the early years of our production company, I used to be on stage! And I used to dress up as a female nurse! I long for those years. . . miss the mascara. . . miss the panty hose. . . miss the dress. . . miss the wigs. . . .

Ah, what a difficult job you have then, working around so many Divas and their demands. Ah but you're a male nurse, you're used to that by now.

Next worldwide tour, I'll be there. :chuckle
