Makeup~Bare Escentuals

  1. I just bought Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals foundation. After years of using Cover Girl's continuous wear foundation, it was time for a change. I just tried it and so far I LOVE it!!!!

My question is, for those who have tried it...should I buy the other products? They have somethinc called Mineral Veil and I'm not exactly sure what the purpose of this is, or if it's necessary. How about the blush? Or the stuff they call 'Glee' and 'Warm' that's supposed to brighten your face?

I don't want to spend money on unnecessary stuff. The foundation was 28 bucks! But it's worth it. It's supposed to be really good for your skin and make you look and feel like you're not wearing foundation. It's also cool because it doesn't settle into your fine lines, creases and pores like other makeup.

    Any advice would be appreciated!

I've worn the stuff for about a year now. It's great. The only problem I have is that in the winter my face is icky and dry and it makes me look flakier. But then all foundation does. Gonna head to the dermatologist before this winter sets in.

I use mineral veil because it does help set the foundation and make it less shiny looking.

I don't use glee cuz I am pink enough. If you want a tanned look you can put warmth on. Either on top of the regular foundation or you can mix them to adjust the amount of tan look you want. I don't buy blushes because I don't use them that often, but if I did, I'd buy the bare minerals. I get my other products, eye shadows, mascara etc. at other places.

For me, the $28 has been worth it. It really does go a long way and takes no time at all to apply. The stuff is mistake proof.

I saw an advertisment for this makeup and I wondered if it was worth the price. Thanks for the info ladies. When I get the bucks I may spring for some of this stuff.

Mineral veil kicks butt!!!!!! get it! It makes your skin look all glowy and dewy... you can use it w/out foundation just to kind of even out your skin tone. good stuff, good times.

I have no idea about the other products, though! sorry.

Thanks! I'm gonna pick it up ASAP!!

moonbunnie~ It covers GREAT! I have a lot of redness in my skin and this covers as well as the liquid, only it looks and feels better with none of the problems that come with liquid. I bought the kabuki brush for application (it's supposed to provide the best coverage) and it's great!

I've been thinking about buying this stuff for awhile, but I wasn't ready to fork over the money until I heard more reviews. My problem is that I have many old acne scars, so my huge pores and texture just suck! I used liquid foundation for years for coverage, but now that my skin is pretty much clear (just switched to plain old Cetaphil, believe it or not) I only use a tinted moisturizer with loose powder to set. I'm worried that the "dewy" kind of look from the Bare Escentuals might magnify my scars and pores and texture. Anyone have experience with that?

Moonbunnie, it works great on uneven skin tone. I've got rosacea and people can't tell. It goes on more evenly for me than liquid does.

Gompers, I don't know about scars. But it covers an awful lot of stuff awfully well.

For anybody, there are some sites that sell it and you can get sample sizes for like $5-$6. Just do a search on bare minerals. Or if you want PM me, I've got the addy for one site that sells sample sizes.

How funny! I was reading this and was excited because I have wanted to try it myself. I turned around and the infomercial was on tv! Meant to be, I guess! I ordered the kit, and am very excited. Great deal off the tv...better than the website. :hatparty:

    Hi,

I have been using Bare Essentials now for about a year. I do like the stuff a lot. But beware- it can (and in my case DOES) make pores appear larger.

You have to make sure you put it on sparingly. Too much of it on the face will make you appear ghostly. But overall, I have been happy with the results. I will never go back to liquid foundation again.

I haven't tried it but have been curious about it. If you get the shopping channel QVC, their "Today's Special Value" at midnight tonight is Bare Escentuals. I plan to check it out.
