Is this a once a week thing, or more than that? If it's more than once a week, then I'd definitely choose him/her to clean the litter boxes. ICK. i HATE doing that.

If s/he only came once a week, it would have to be the bathrooms (including tub).

Only one selection, hmmmmmmmmmmm, probably tackle my mountain of laundry, wash, dry, and put away!

I gave up prime cable, am staying with a crappy phone line for internet connection, and do my own hair so I can spend $70 a month to have cleaning people come in and do the deep down scrubbing and heavy duty cleaning of the entire house once a month. If I have stripped the beds and left out fresh linens, they make all the beds.
I do light stuff inbetween. It's been 4 years now with Alfredo and Liliana and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have a once a week maid come in and she does the whole house minus laundry (I have kids for that).
I pay her $50 a week and she stays for about 5 hours.
I have her come on Fridays so that we don't have to do any cleaning on the weekend. It's nice to have my wife back on Saturdays. Worth every dime!
I used to halp with the cleaning on weekends but there were just so many other things I'd rather do.
At first Robin balked at having someone else come in to clean her house but now she is so glad to come home on Friday night and the whole house is clean and smelling so good and looking so organized.

Rusty - Have you ever had a problem with the kids taking advantage of the cleaning person?
Emma has it in her mind that she doesn't have to clean her play room because "the cleaning people clean it". I've told her no, that's not their responsiblity. Once, she purposely did NOT clean her play room, I asked Alfredo NOT to clean it and he did anyway. Emma's response was, "See? Told you!".
Last time she pulled that she got a spanking. And I told her IF she does it again, I am throwing away every single toy she leaves out.

I have toyed with this idea many a time. I have a lot of reservations about it though. How do you find someone trustworthy who won't case the joint and come back and rob you? Is it better to go through an agency? Don't you just end up cleaning before the maid comes? (I am positive I would do this!) Is there any normal deep cleaning that most maids won't do? (e.g., "I don't do windows.") If you go through an agency, do you have to tip the maid too?

    So. Many. Questions!

    Deneen,
The kids still have to pick up all their shi...stuff and make their beds daily. I also have Dillon throw all the bathroom and bedroom trashes on Friday morning before Norma comes.
Bottom line if they don't do their chores then they suffer the consequences REGARDLESS if Norma is around or not.
Poor Norma gets the blame whenever they can't find something.
"Where are your winter boots, Lucas?"
"Norma must have put them somewhere! They were RIGHT here!"
Then when they look a bit harder the missing item is found...right where they left it.
But to answer your question, they have tried to take advantage.
It has passed now. They would rather do the job than lose their tv for a week.
