LVN Students in Clinicals

  1. Those of you that are taking clinicals, are you aloud to pass meds without the instructor present. Or how do you feel about this. This is for students that are in second semester.

When I was doing my clinical rotation, we always had to have the instructor present when passing meds.

I am in my last semester and, yes, the instructor or our med passs nurse must be present.

by present do you mean with in the patients room? if this is what you mean than no. Our instructor checks are meds with us afer we pull them but we go into the room alone. She watched us do it once or twice the first semester but since the 2nd week of our 1st semester she checks them in the med room.

We always had our instructor with us at all times. With meds, drsg. changes, anything. Our instructor was very strict. Well not anything bed baths, or transfering, full body assessments, first Hx. assessment, or any thing like that after we were checked off we were on our own.

Our instructor must check our meds before we go into the room to give them. They say it is because we are working on their license so they have to check us.
