Long day...........

  1. geeeeeeeeeezeeeeee............i worked 17 hours today, and the last 7 was the er where the ac quit!!!!

needless to say while we were packed and overinundated with patients, the temp climbed and climbed until most of us were dragging a** and dying. nothing like a few beers after to dehydrate......i mean rehydrate ya! :chuckle

we had a 6 month rookie in triage (*note : it was her choice) she was beggin to get away from the canibals at 2130! :chuckle i told her: "ignore the complainers, the worst come first, f**k the rest." bad attitude yes, but that's the way it happens sometimes.

nobody died on the shift tonight...so yeah we kicked a**! as they said in the movie "the program" let's put the women and children to rest".....

    and end this chaos!!!!!!!

    me :wink2:

you still had a better night than I did. I am the float nurse of a small hosp. I was assigned 7pts on med-surg, Since I am also pm resp.therapy I had all the resp. pts and duties and I wk ED since all we have is one RN at night. Anyway while working on a MI in ED the floors calls and wants me to do their up drafts ICU calls and wants an ECG to top it off I was working on my fifth 14hr shift . So know the feeling. Some nurses week. an although we are already short-handed they are talking more lay-offs.

knows the feeling.....after 17 hours or so yesterday...i could not go to sleep when i got home?
i was up until 5:30am.....when i finally fell asleep! only to wake up to the kids at 7am!
then i was up all day, busted my a** tonight......and am tired as s**t!
however, after 5 coronas, and a duseques.....and 50 of bendadryl....i feel wound up, and wired to all end?

anyways, i will sign off differently tonight...

    hope to sleep soon..........

Rick returns to this madness everyday, because he is a great nurse.....................
as the 99.9% of us are here...........
masochism rocks at least in nursing.......because sometimes that is what it is........
but it is also making a difference...........
    CEN35, great thread.........
    your fellow threader............

There are plenty of jobs available Rick that have to be less stressful and more lucrative. Haven't you been offered jobs in upper level management before? But I assume you don't take them because you actually give a $hit about your staff nurses and don't like to see em get screwed every time you turn around.

Oh well, just have fun on your days off and relax!

Yeah, sometimes I am a dyslexic typer too. I hit the s key when I meant to hit the a key and vice versa!

    Take care! Kelly
