Lion King off-Broadway

  1. I took one of my kiddos to see The Lion King in Houston on Thurs.

What an awesome awesome show. WELL worth 75/ticket.

I bought the tics when they went on sell in Jan, SO, I had great seats.

I don't live in NY, so I don't see 'Broadway' type musicals very much. But, WOW. Was I impressed! If this is a taste, I'd like, be there, all the time.

I guess it helps that 'Lion King' is my fav Disney movie.

But still, pulling that off w/ actors - wow.

And, just how do you get a 10 yr old to memorize and act out over an hour worth of on-stage time? And do so, credibly?

Just gushing. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I wish I had the time and opportunity to go see it again.

    Timothy.

Great review, Timothy! Makes me want to see it!!! I'm like you, I'm impressed with live stage productions (even those done in our little local 200-seat theater). Maybe I don't get out that much, so any little effort will amuse and entertain me . . I dunno. But Lion King sounds like an amazing production!! I'm glad YOU'RE glad you went!!

edited to add: Most of the time, the price for the big plays/musicals is just TOO prohibitive for me. Example: I thought getting a few friends together and driving the hour into LA to see Wicked would be a hoot, so I got on the internet to search out tickets. The LOWEST, absolute LOWEST price I found for ONE LOUSY TICKET was $200!!!! None of MY friends (nor I) would spend that on a musical, (let alone drive an hour or so each way, fighting traffic and paying for parking) so I dropped that idea. Glad yours was more reasonable!

I agree Timothy. I saw the touring show a few years ago in Tampa.

If anyone has a change to see it, they must!

OoO -- I saw this a few weekends ago in Houston. I, too, was really impressed with the young people in the performance. It is well worth it!
