Let's write a lyric together! Once it's completed, I'll write the melody!

  1. This was Jenny P's idea, actually! She started the lyric with what I'm posting below. Let's see where we can go with it! Who knows, if all goes well, maybe it will be on an album?!? (With appropriate credits, of course! )

Here is what Jenny P wrote:

"Monitor shows Normal Sinus Rhythm, Heart Rate of 70, no ectopy noted.
Patient is sleeping, Cheyne Stokes respirations at 16 breaths/minute.
Why is this patient so.....Dum dum dada dada dum dum daaa
    Dopamine infusing at 3mcg/kg/min, BP of 105/50, PA=28/14 with a wedge of 16;
Where is the man who will dum dum dee de de de dum dum "

    . . . I'm going to continue on with the next post. . . .

    Enjoy!

The idea is to give us a tune to do our charting to. Ted had said he was too bored to chart that right now, and I agreed that sometimes it would be interesting to have some MUSIC TO CHART TO. Ted works CCU, I work CV-ICU; but if you have any frequently repeated lyrics (er, charting) that you'd like to add, please help!

I like it! I always need some clues as to what and where to rhyme, then I can get into it.

    but i've got to chart
    about his heart
    his breathing and his lungs
    or i'll be here forever
'cuz i can't leave til the charting's done.
i've got the charting blues. i've got the charting blues.

but i've got to chart about his heart and his lungs
and again i've got to chart about his st runs
i even have to chart about his rosey buns
'cuz i can't leave the unit 'til the charting's done.
i've got the charting blues. i've got the charting blues.

again, i've revised the lyric to help keep the rhythm (and rhyming) sceme going. feel free to change it some more!

i'm charting the same words as the other night.
if i chart the same damned thing you know i'm going to cry!
i've got the charting blues! i've got the charting blues!

Vitals continue the same, good for him
Green cursor on the scope swings now bright, now dim
Over and over and over again
No event excitement tonight -- good for me, good for him
But still, I got the charting blues, I got the charting blues

Ted, this is great! My 'puter is running very slowly, though (I'm getting all of these weird symbols here instead of buttons for about the past half hr.); so don't know how much longer I'll be able to stay here with you.

Got to chart about the urine and NG outputs,
    respiratory efforts and cardiac output,
    mentation and also psych-social support
for patient and family- it all goes in the report!
I've got the charting blues, I've got the charting blues.

(I can't get this next part to rhyme yet)
What time did I call the doc? What were those orders?
What time did I give that med?
I've got to chart it all precisely within the parameters
to meet the legal limits and the hospital
    policy and procedures......
I've got the charting blues, I've got the charting blues.

Denies audio hallucinations, spooky visual ones too
Denies suicidality, got a bright affect, woo-hoo
    No EPS to speak of
    No adverse events in sight
And while I'm writin' this stuff down
I'm gonna be here all night

I've got the (dum da duh da) charting bluuuuueees...
