let's talk about . . .

  1. dvd players....

    do you have one?

    what kind?

    how much did it cost?

    is it hard to setup/operate?

what do you like best/least about it?

what sort of "extras" do i need in order to hook one up?

any tips on buying and what features to look for?

i have never used one. never looked at them. have no idea if it can even be used on my tv. but i just ordered the coolest box set of dvd's from amazon and now i need something to play them. :chuckle

My DVD player has "Playstation 2" on top of it. And it was a b'day gift, so you'll have to check the prices at the stores.

Oooh - I'll have to check at home - will post later - we love ours - only downside is that it's too complicated to hook the vcr through so we can't tape stuff anymore (altho it's a rare thing on that's worth taping .)

Just curious - what box set did you get?

We have a Marantz DV3100 - paid around $300 for it, Daughter has a Sharp DV-S1 (paid around $100)

No idea on hook-up, hubby does that

Yes I have a DVD I don't know what kind it is, I don't know how to use, it I have to wait for my son to operate it for me, way to complicated!!!! I like my VCR much better.

I have a DVD player, Sony. We bought it about 4 years ago, so now it is old. It also cost us over 300. Could probably buy the same one today for a $100 less. Oh well, that is the way of technology. I love DVD's versus tape. No rewinding and then all the extra stuff on DVD's. I think it is great.

I have a Bush, TV/DVD combination, which works really well, as I dind't have to mess around with scarth leads etc... I have my eye on a multi region DVD player so I can buy DVD's from the USA, as soon as I qualify, or get a better paying job

Which box set did you order?? I really want the Highlander series, but you can only get those for region one, so I am going to have to wait till I can buy that multi region player

My DVD player is in my computer with a cable that attaches to the t.v. screen.....usually I use the large size computer screen, especially when I am traveling.....

We have a playstation 2...works as DVD and gaming system. Most bang for our buck, we figured. Oh and we won a panasonic DVD player at a Christmas party. I have yet to get it out of the box. Just don't watch much TV.

hey, thanks everyone. i had almost forgotten that i posted this. :chuckle

before i tell you the box set, let me say that i'm a 90210 generation gal. so it stands to reason when dawson's creek started that i would watch it even though i was out of that target age.

but my goodness, i LOVE that show! i ordered the entire first season box set from amazon but now i have to come up with a dvd player to see them. and amazon just sent my shippment confirmation email so i need to get on this dvd thing right away. i'll be very disappointed if i can't see them when they arrive.

i'm actually trying to get away from buying a PS2. we have every game system known to man from atari to xbox. :chuckle

    thanks for the advice.
