Lasik, Lasek.......?

  1. I am currently researching vision correction options. I thought that the most updated procedure was still LASIK. Now I find that there is LASEK, crystalens, etc.
Has anyone had any of these procedures done and how do you like your results?
I didn't know it was so popular...everyone that I have spoken to at work has had it done!

I haven't had it done. I'm still considering it.

The most important thing is to find the most experienced and competent surgeon you can. Don't go just for the lowest price.

As far as the different types, your surgeon will help determine which is best for you. Not everyone is suited to every procedure.

That's the one thing I hear from EVERYBODY regarding these procedures. Good advice.

I had lasik done 9 years ago. I was a test subject. So I had one eye done 1 week and 1 eye done 2 weeks after that. They no longer do that (and boy are you guys lucky for that - was walking in circles the whole time :spin: )
I have 1 very strong piece of advice (my vision is forever altered because I didn't know this so head it strongly). NEVER EVER lose sight of the red light. When they removed my cornea (after giving me a strong dose of ativan) I started to doze off, and my eyes rolled slightly, the instant they realized they said watch the red dot!!! I said "WHICH ONE??!!!" Because once your cornea is off there's hundreds! The smell of burning flesh wasn't too pleasant either. But I would do it over again and again because I still have 20/20 vision in one eye and 20/30 in the really really bad eye (I was legally blind when they started) When I lost site of the red dot they actually overcorrected my vision in one spot, which lead to a permenant floater in my field of vision (but only against white walls). So trust me when I say NEVER EVER LOSE SITE OF THE RED DOT!!!

I had it done last August a year ago. They did monovision so I could read and see at a distance. My only problem now is that sometimes it seems like my eyes "cross" when I'm concentrating on something...and my depth perception seems "off".

Oh, and the other day I almost put my eye out when I went to push up my non-existant glasses
